Accounting

    Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice in regards to what way I should go about becoming a qualified accountant.

I had originally planned to study with ATI and become an accounting technician and work my way up that way. I have a higher certificate in business studies and at this stage I am just not prepared to go back to college and study full-time and give up my full time job so an accounting degree is out of the picture.

I have just discovered however that my local IT does a part time Hons Degree in Business studies. This would take me two years to complete as I can go straight into Year 3 and of course can go on from there to do the professional exams with CA or ACCA.

The downside is that those two years will spent studying a variety of subjects, as you can't specialise in any area with the part-time degree. I ultimately want to study accounting so ATI seems like a good option but I am worried about missing out in the chance to get a degree and wondering if this would stand to me more down the line even though its just a general business degree.

Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated! ðŸ˜ðŸ€ž

The Accounting Technician courses are run on an apprentice ship basis, you you could earn while you learn. (Blanch TU is one place I know are doing this). You may also be entitled to exemptions from the accountancy bodies which will reduce the level of study.
    Hope that helps.
