Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Outdoor Pursuits Charter :: Read this before posting (Updated 15th July 2014)

    Hello and welcome to the Outdoor Pursuits forum. This forum is for all outdoor pursuits and anything related to them. I've laid down some rules for the forum below, follow these and we'll get along fine:

    General Rules
    • The site guidelines apply here as they do across the site.
    • This is NOT a medical board. If you need medical advice see a doctor. Asking advice on alternative remedies is also asking medical advice. Don't ask and DO NOT answer. We will be harsh should you answer i.e. you'll be banned.
    • If you have a club we'd love to hear about it but don't spam the forum looking for members.
    • If you have a website it would be preferrable if you made a contribution to the forum before posting 'Here's my site' links. Offending posts/theads may be deleted.
    • If you've found a good resource for buying equipment then please tell us about it. That's one of the purposes of this board.
    • If you're selling some of your own gear then please tell us about that too. However, you must use an external link to your advertisement using a site such as adverts.ie, donedeal.ie, eBay, etc. You must use the sticky provided. If there is no external link, your post will be deleted. No sale shall take place on this forum. If you post a new thread telling us about your gear for sale, it will be deleted.
    • We don't care how good your credentials are, if we decide to delete information with regards to base-jumping free fall times or something supplied by you its because Boards.ie does not want to get sued. It is not a reflection on your good self or your abilities. Again this will be up to the moderators.
    • Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited/deleted. The poster may receive a temporary ban from this forum. Please keep you temper.
    • Each post has a 'Report' link in the bottom right hand corner. Use this to report a post to the moderators.
    • If you and your mates want to go drinking somewhere then go to the pub, if you're too young for the pub you shouldn't be drinking. This forum is not for the pursuit of leaving Dutch Gold cans and vomit all over the wicklow hills (or any where else for that matter). Such threads will be locked. And no, we don't know of any camp sites that allow you to drink all night.
    • Any threads that may be used to discuss illegal activities (such as drug use) may be locked or deleted. If a thread is locked feel free to contact the moderators to argue your case.
    • Try and stay on topic please.
    • Please be aware that every outdoor pursuit has its own code of ethics and etiquette with regards to how that pursuit is practiced. Try to respect the wishes and the ethics of the community involved. Failure to do so my result in moderator intervention.
    • Use of the search function is encouraged, as it may assist you with a question that you may have. Many topics have been discussed previously. Please note that although use of the search function is encouraged, it is not compulsory. Insisting that people use the search function before asking a question may result in moderator action.
    • If you find old threads which are relevant, the general rule is that you may post in such threads. However, please note that moderators have full discretion to close old threads if they deem it appropriate to do so, or if the old threads or the new responses to them are no longer relevant.
    • If you are unhappy with moderating on this forum then you need to contact one of the moderators via private message, after that you can use the help desk. Discussing moderator actions in thread is not how boards.ie works and it may also result in moderator action.


    Commercial Posting
    • Topics/posts that contain commercial advertising will be both edited and locked. If you wish to buy ad space, contact sales@boards.ie.
    • This includes charities running events.
    • It also includes businesses running free events/courses/whatever.
    • Commercial threads will be deleted, repeat offenders will banned.
    • Boards.ie is not market research tool - try to use the Outdoor Pursuits forum as one and your thread/post will be deleleted. You will be banned.

    Quad bikes and other off road vehicles
    • Outdoor pursuits is a forum for everybody, it is not the domain of one group or community who enjoy the outdoors.
    • Please read this before posting on these subjects.
