Hi c.p.w.g.w.
It was nothing to do with what you said. It was just a link to show plant calcium sources. Your post is perfect.

The point I am making is that vegans are more likely to be aware of B12 sources and vegetarian, flexatarian and full carnivores interested in shifting to a full plant based diet or more likely thinking about reducing their intake of animal products will be less aware.

We should welcome their questions and not assume it’s trolling or anti vegan.

I think we are seeing a big shift to a flexatarian diet, plus a growing group of individuals who go plant based for short periods and then back to reduced animal product. I base this on my limited personal experience when chatting to people who attending tai chi and yoga classes and at the gym. Now most are doing it for health and environmental reasons, no one discussed animal welfare but it’s in the background I suppose.

I know what you mean and agree but I think the response is just as bad as the “where do you get your protein/vitamin/mineral from”.

There is enough misinformation posted in this forum, I can’t recall the last vegetarian thread posted here and are there not more vegetarians than vegans?

It has become a little toxic and unwelcoming if you are not a devout vegan.

Not being smart - but I've rarely came across posters asking "where do you get your protein"

So I've did a quick search and in total there are 11 incidences of the phrase "where do you get your protein" on boards.

Nine of those were veg•ns saying they are always being asked that question and two are posters asking where they can get protein bars or shakes.

Not one non veg•n poster since 2000 has asked that particular question.

Now maybe boards posters are just strangely different from the rest of the population and don't ask such daft questions?

Btw the count is now up to 12 because I've just typed the question in this comment

Can't speak for anyone else but in person it's almost always about protein

I was talking about real life rather than boards. This is my first time on this forum tbh.

Only time I have been asked about protein this year, was seeing a specialist nurse before a consultant appointment. She was unhappy that my protein only came from only plant sources, do you eat a lot of chickpeas? And what about oily fish? It started to feel like the vegetarian scene from the Royle Family. Funnily enough I dislike chickpeas.

They were all singing from the Irish Heart Foundation healthy eating hymn sheet, including the nutritionist the sent me to see. Admittedly it is a well balanced diet but when you do not eat meat it does seem like they recommend a lot.

No fair enough. Although I've seen that said here before - that it's the most common question asked etc (not necessarily on this forum btw). I thought that boards would be fairly representative of views across the board so it would turn up in one of the various discussions. But bizarrely it hasn't - that's all.

There was one lad in After Hours who responded to me that I needed meat for protein but I think they were just trying to troll.

Outside of boards it's asked a lot more, same with other calcium iron etc.

On the real spectrum of stupidity, I genuinely had someone ask me is a Dominos Pepperoni pizza not vegan but she is like that on a lot of topics

Here's Ed debating with a non-vegan, Bradley. I admire Bradley's persistence but he blew it 101% when it came to him talking about rape.
