Yep, Ireland on 34/1 after 4

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

Did it show what pace our bowlers were on sky? Was there a speed gun?

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Stirling flying here on 58 and Ireland 84/1 after 9

    Stirling out 62

    Ireland 96/2

    Balbirnie 50

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,494 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

8 wicket win with 16 balls to spare. Pretty solid start, balbirnie top scoring with 70

Really good performance by the Irish batsmen.

Stirling provided the power at the top, while Balbirnie found the gaps expertly. Pitch was as flat as anything you've seen, but with it being such a big ground, sixes were difficult, so Balbirnie thrived on it being such an orthodox batsman.

Really liking giving some of the youngsters a go with the two Delany's and Tector now making their way in international cricket. It has been much needed.

Netherlands just closing out their win over Kenya. UAE v Oman in our group still to come today.

Yep, very good to see the young guys out there. The experience in recent warm up games, tournament in oman and even the triangle tournament back here in August should stand to them

Getting points on the board today the priority as shown in the Scotland game t20 can be so difficult and prone to upsets. A bonus to do it in such convincing fashion

Singapore finish on 168-6. Decent score but maybe not enough.

Was enough, won by 2 runs :). Ireland did well, and won easily, but this speedgun thing is almost irrelevant. No point bowling a fast wide

    That’s a very good win.

    I love our top order.

I’m happy for either of the openers to have a swing because Balbirnie can come in and stay in. He just doesn’t play silly shots or look like getting out. And he scores at a very good rate.

In any game we are only 1 down after 7/8 overs(setting or chasing a total) I would comfortably back us to win.

If any of the top 3 face 30/40 balls we will score big.

And that’s before Tucker, Delany, Adair or Dockrell get a mention.

Ps. The captain has been left out of that list on purpose

I think the captain should be left out of the team

I think so too but its too late now.

The only instance where he might be of use batting is if we are 3 down after 5/6 overs. In that case a run a ball 30 could come in handy (if he could even manage that)

    UAE only 50/3 after 10 v Oman

Oman win by 7 wickets with ten balls to spare

UAE are in a bit of a crisis due to three players suspended by ICC due to corruption charges.

Should be absolutely no reason why we shouldn't top this group and qualify automatically.

Oman will be no pushover and beat us only two weeks ago.
