More info on the Russian troll factories (not the best source, but highlights that it's practically a business in Russia and little effort is made to hide it anymore)

The influence of troll factors can’t be estimated.

Contrast it with say, Israels or Saudi influence on the US. What you need is think thanks, universities, campaign donations and lots of organisation and money.

A few years back people were vehemently denying the existence of these literal propaganda factories, now they are accepting them but attempting to downplay their impact. It's progress.

No, not the best source. It took me about five seconds to find out that 'journalist' Lyudmila Savchuk is part of the NATO propaganda 'think-tank' Atlantic Council.

I was referring to "Business Insider"

Savchuk worked in the IRA in St Petersburg, took them to Russian court, and "won" the case, against an entity that isn't supposed to exist. On top of that, she's a brave woman, and has faced all sorts of threats, I'm amazed she hasn't been bumped off by the Kremlin yet, they have a slight tendency to murder their critics over there, opposition politicians, journalists, ex-spies and so on

Anyway, from the Wiki overview, couldn't resist highlighting the below
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Research_Agency
According to the testimonies of the investigative journalists and former employees of the offices, the main topics for posts included:[7][10][15][25]

Criticism of Alexei Navalny, his sponsors, and Russian opposition in general;[14]
    Criticism of Ukraine's and the United States' foreign policies, and of the top politicians of these states;
Praise for Vladimir Putin and the policy of the Russian Federation.
Praise for and defense of Bashar al-Assad.[32]

Troll factories is small scale stuff. If you want to see how real propaganda works in cold wars look into operation mockingbird.

It's quite simply not small scale stuff. This is a war that's being going on for ten years state sponsored by a militarily deflated Russia with little funding left in military spending.

It has been such an incredible success . These factories have come into play in Ukraine, the UK and of course the USA. I think you'll agree that isn't small fry nor is the results .

And what that she is part of the think-tank? Million times better then being a Kremlin troll.

Russia wants us neutered. We stand or fall together as Europeans.

Rhetoric like this can only mean peaceful times are ahead. You've put my mind at ease.

You'd never hear Putin say something like that. If you swapped two words in that sentence, it wouldn't sound like something European leaders might consider a call to arms if it came out of Putins mouth. No siree.

Actions do the speaking, and Putin likes to act, in both senses of the word

Assad is no doubt a bad dictator. So is the King of Saudi, committing genocide in Yemen and supported by the US. When I was talking about destabilisation I was referring to the refugee crisis. With Assad back in power that has largely stopped, the refugees are in fact going home. The US backed destabilisation of Syria caused the crisis and that crisis caused the rise of nationalism in Europe. Again though, Russian influence is blamed.

The immigration was exacerbated by Russian bombs.
Russian propagandists groups like the Olgino troll factory posed as EU citizens in order to misprepresented the refugeee crises as some kind of Muslim invasion of Europe.

They funded far right groups, used their propaganda machines and State media outlets to boost them. They organised far right conferences in Moscow teaching them how to use propaganda and disinformation techniques to gain support.
Russia hasn’t invaded Eastern Europe, and isn’t threatening to. In fact people blame Russia for promoting nationalism in Poland and Hungary, but those nationalists are anti-Russian, as well as being anti immigration or anti Islamic.

Russia HAS invaded Crimea and Eastern Ukraine. Nationalists in Hungary and Poland can't support Russia for historical reasons. Their use is to destabilise the EU. It is well known that Viktor Orban is controlled by Semion Mogilevich who runs the plausibly deniable criminal wing of the Russian Mafia State.

Modern Cyber and Information Warfare as proposed by Gerasimov and Surkov use existing situations and cracks to cause division and desttabilise.

Mercedes is a private company. Merkel as the German chancellor has nothing to do with it.

Of course not. But ask Mercedes shareholders. Nothing to do with German politicians.
