Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    No, the fact that they fulfil the criteria for a distinct ethnicity, as set out by the UN, is a sufficient reason.

    Christ almighty. What has this got to do with their minority status? Nothing, that’s what. Suicide is high among the Traveller population because of their lifestyle and choices. Until more traveller parents say “enough, I don’t want this life for my kids”, things are not going to improve for them as a community. Minority status, victim mentality and blaming everyone else for their problems isnt going to help.

    No...no I'm not happy that many of them kill themselves. I'm also not happy that so many young people take their own lives. I'm also sad that people caught up in debt in the recession took their own lives. I'm also sad that people have taken their own lives because of their sexuality.

    Now....

    Are you glad that they rob, steal and don't pay tax?
    Are you glad they mistreat their animals?

    This has nothing to do with whether someone likes/ dislikes or despises anyone.
    If giving them a special status is alienating them even further from mainstream society, then it's surely only a contributing factor to their already insular, disadvantaged and backward ways

    I like this the sound of this and I liked his comment about bringing a driver to the Aras.



    I also liked how he quickly retrieved the golf ball he knocked into the sea to pacify the environmentalists he had outraged.



    I like his hair too, that's important, he doesn't stick to one style, he's versatile there too, wet look, dry look, frizzled etc.


    He has my number one.

    genuine question here.....

    Can one, if they so wished, purposely class themselves as a Traveller even though they are not? and then request a free house and pay no tax?

    What is the criteria? Do you have to pass a test or something?

    I’m not, there is very little in life more tragic than suicide for everyone concerned.

    I asked why you think they have such a high suicide rate, it’s because they lead such dysfunctional lives and the authorities have rewarded them for this and basically said continue as you are. And you approve of this also.

    Who is this reporter on Newstalk who is surprised that any texters agree with Peter Casey's statements? How out of touch is he?

    Also saying he should drop of the race because if he stays in, "that's how you end up voting in Trump".
