Would love to travel on the Transfagarasan road, Top Gear ranked it as the best road trip they did. Look at all that snow still there!!!!

A tornado struck Manchester yesterday afternoon. None of the links seem to work for some reason but all over Google.

Extreme heat in the Netherlands - record watching
Extreme heat expected in the Netherlands with possible 40°C on Thursday. It could finally happen that the official highest temperature ever recorded, 38.6°C 23 August 1944 in Warnsveld, will be smashed to pieces. This is the weather forecast for Eindhoven in the south where the highest temperatures are expected. More southerly in Belgium it might even get slightly hotter (Belgium is on red alert already).
Of course I will be record watching tomorrow and Thursday. My personal bet is on Gilze-Rijen with 40.3°C. Anyone else want to make a bet ![]() If you want to follow the Dutch temperature records live then I recommend Weerplaza which has a nice map with current and max temperatures for all official weater stations. Updated every 10 minutes. Last edited by burren; 23-07-2019 at 22:27. |

Worth mentioning that around 2pm there was a remarkable temperature glitch at Deelen. It showed several readings above 41 degrees, with a peak reading of 42.9°C. KNMI, the Dutch met office, later invalidated those readings. But they nevertheless still show up in some stats like here. ![]() Last edited by burren; 25-07-2019 at 18:14. I have a Dutch friend who lives in the south of the Netherlands, he was saying earlier that the heat was unbearable, he went to the swimming pool for relief, but came home and said the thermometer in his bedroom was reading 47C, he was not impressed as like here air con is not normal in residential homes.
He said the outdoor temperature was expected to have cooled down to 30C by midnight there. Doesn't sound like great sleeping weather. |
