I'll start with FurTV which aired on Comedy Central about 10 years ago. It started three puppets (Lapeno, Fat Ed and Mervin) as flatmates. I love the episode where they form a heavy metal band and then at the end of the episode, they are turned into a pop band and Fat Ed isn't happy about it. A lot of sh*t being flung around in that episode too :-)

This is from like '08, is that really considered retro these days?!

I'll throw my hat into the ring with another puppet related show that nobody seems to remember - Cousin Skeeter, from creators of Kenan and Kel, ran from '98 - '01 on Nickelodeon and was quality

That was good fun. I remember seeing it in the late 70s and I think it was repeated again around 1983 or so. Betsy and Lulu were nice :)

Some late 1980s \ early 1990s scripted series involving soccer.

    The Manageress.
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096647/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Playing for Real - a short lived series about a Scottish subbuteo team "Real Falkirk"
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397004/

Born Kicking - a once off film about England's first female professional player.
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103861/

I can't remember the name, think it was part of the Screen One series about two YTS trainees trying to make it with a first division club. Hazy memory of one of them getting injured, and one of them embracing born again christianity.

"To follow knowledge like a sinking star..." (Tennyson's Ulysses)

I'd completely forgotten that show had ever existed, but as soon as I saw your post I remembered the theme music. Forrest Tucker was in it, he also played the sergeant in F Troop, which was another Saturday morning staple.

Monkey was mad sh*t altogether. It was a Japanese show based on old Chinese legends iirc. It used to be on around 6pm during the week, I remember always watching it after I came home from swimming lessons.
