When would a Lens change be necessary

Hi guys, On a prescription of -7.5 and -8 would a change of only .5 up or down be enough to require a change or would it be insignificant really.

.5 of a change in shortsightedness would make quite a big difference. The difference between seeing scores in matches on the TV for example
