Finding a death, Ireland.

    Hi,

I'm trying to find a death for someone from the mid 80's. I have full name but no exact dob, just an educated guess. I was told he died in Ireland around 1984-85 but I can find no records matching the name in ancestry, findmypast.ie, or anywhere else I have looked.
It's possible my info is wrong and he in fact died in England, but I can't find any matching record for there either, anywhere I look.

Can anyone suggest where I should look next?

    Thanks

Have a read of our sticky.

No deaths for that era are online in Ireland.

Your best bet for the 1980s is to try a newspaper in the locality. Irish News Archive has the widest selection of local and national papers.

Thank you, much appreciated. I didn't realise that about the death records, as they are online for the UK. It's very hard to find any information when there is no-one left to ask.
I will start with the newspapers.
