Fota Island Christmas Event

So Fota Island have a yearly Christmas Event.
This year a discount code was doing the rounds which we used. We booked, paid and got confirmation. The code was received and used in good faith.
Following that it turns out that the offer was supposed to be limited, so they contacted us to offer 3 options.
1. Refund
2. Book an alternative date
3. Pay the difference to secure our chosen date

We refused all offers as in our mind we have a valid contract. However they just refunded us without further contact.

What are our options here?

i think a refund is the best you can hope for in a legal sense.

you can contact them on social media etc, ask for a goodwill gesture, etc etc. Ddi yoiu read carefull what the T's&C's said? Usually they are covered by the standard clauses.

This is a very widespread issue so there is zero chance of any gestures from them. Basically they forgot to fence off a code for high paying members and it got used by thousands who were unaware they weren't meant to use it.

They're unable to provide service so a refund is all you can expect.

I learnt a very interesting point that there is something in law that voids a contract if a) it is a genuine human error or b) people knowingly jump on the bandwagon. Fota said they had a lot of people booking at 1-2am that night so most of these people were never going to book fota but grab the bargain.

As for advice, don't waste your time

As for refusing offers, what did you think was going to happen? Turn up on a Sunday in Dec to see Santa with crying kids in tow?

That you would get more than you paid?

We brought our kids there a few times, if you can do it, its worth the full price of admission.

That they would either honour the original contract or offer a reduced rate to keep the booked date.

I've been a few years, it's good. But one year I did find it a bit disappointing as we were just rushed through...

It was a ridiculously low price and everyone jumped on it once it went online, people genuinely wanted compensation because they didn’t get the deal.
One person on red fm was talking about getting a solicitor involved.
