Just FYI Adrian Kavanagh predicts 2 FF 2 FG for Mayo based on the latest opinion poll, but I doubt he'd be too definitive about that until the known unknown of who's running for FG is resolved.

Would Henry Kenny not run for Inda's seat if Inda hits the road and launches a presidential bid?

Enda's declaration of traveller ethnicity will not win him nor FG much support in Mayo

Why? All the political parties supported this, any effect it might have will be minimal.

I know SF and Labour have been pushing this ethnicity claim for years.

I did not hear anything from FG or FF who are the two main parties in Mayo.

Mayo has suffered a lot from travellers, and it is getting worse..

Many travellers still persist in having large families - I know one family where there were seventeen kids, fourteen of whom lived to adulthood. They rely on the taxpayer to house, feed, and educate these.

They encourage their kids to marry at ages 16/17 rather than completing education or seeking work, thus perpetuating the cycle of large families.

Few even look for work; easier to claim "disability".

They operate a wide range of scams, calling where they are neither wanted nor welcome. E.g. Frog Ward hassling Pat Nally.

They row publicly, more so at funerals, weddings, and other religious events.
If they have to go to Hospital, they arrive in A and E with the entire clan, disrupt the entire place, stressing other patients. Sometimes Gardai have had to be called to sort them out

If you live in Mayo you will be aware of pitched battles in various Mayo towns.

In summer when they are joined by their UK cousins they invade in numbers resorts such as Achill, Murrisk-Croagh Patrick. They practically take over Knock each August. Pubs have to close and other businesses suffer.

Despite being on just social welfare, many drive very expensive rolling stock.

They have little respect for the rest of the population. They just regard them as targets to be fleeced, resorting to various forms of criminality.

Many travellers are heavily involved in the drug trade

Most FG councillors are aware of all this. I wonder have they briefed Enda?

They will use this ethnicity claim to screw more money from the tax payer in numerous ways, and to avoid compliance with the law where it does not suit them

Amongst the asks will probably be

    1. Special schools and course for Cant/Shelta ( altho it is not really a language )
    2. Transient halting sites near all tourist resorts and places of pilgrimage
    3. Places for grazing horses and sulky racing
4 A range of Boards and Quangos, all with paid officials
    5. Traveller quotas for all sorts of jobs, starting with the public service, elections to local authorities etc
    6. Special soft housing loans
etc etc until the tax payer's back breaks

    Is that you Tommy?

    Who is Tommy?

If you dispute what I have posted pls give reasons

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,371 ✭✭✭Westernyelp

What's your reason for saying this? It's a non issue for non travellers as far as I can see
Edit. Just read your extensive reply. Some truth in it but irrelevant to the issue at hand imo

This will get her votes....... maybe I'm old, but is this really the way a senator from the so called upper house should perform, fun or not?

    Yes it's very disappointing.

When I read she 'whipped off her shirt' I was hoping to see more skin than that.:P

I was walking in front of Pat Rabbitte yesterday, he was chatting to someone behind me, commented that the Dail has turned into a circus with people who dont respect the job, the decorum of what they are doing or even speak in a concise way! Harsh, but possibly true!

imho Rabbitte never moved one from being a student politician. All mouth.

Whatever happened to that letter that would "shake the state to its foundations"?

Fair play to Michelle. Shows she is not as stuck up as are many politicians

The problem is Nuac, who is 'stuck up' after watching the video?

I don't know, she is in a state position, I think that is too far. Go any other European country and I "think", could be totally wrong, that you'd not see that happen.

I've no idea about Rabbitte, just walking front of him.

I never ever ever in my life expected to be saying fair play to Michelle Mulhern but that is exactly what I thought when I saw that video.

To be honest I would be more likely to vote for her after that. That was her being real and not giving a damn.

Still, she has more question marks than success from her time in power behind her for me to consider her.

With regard to the image of a statesperson, give me results and positive change every time over a respectful attire.

    No thats fair enough.

    Has she delivered results?

I think she has been a reasonably constructive representative so far.

She had campaigned for new road into Ballina from N5 - badly wanted and much delayed.

Hardly her fault that the powers that be shot the proposals down for various reasons - e.g. the whooper swans.

As a county councillor she took a special interest in windpower issues.

Acoording to this week's Western, Aoibhinn Kenny will not be standing for the Dail this time, and her Dad will not be standing again, so that clarifies things a bit.

Ml Ring and Michelle Mulherin will gladly carry the FG standard in next GE.

Also Cllr O'Brien Hollymount has always polled will in LE, and will be available

She is her own woman; speaks her mind. Does not worry too much about the mantra of political correctness.

Wasn't elected in the last GE. Support for FG was ebbing in Mayo. FG were urging support for Enda for obvious reasons, and Michael Ring held his vote.

Her prospects next time are better

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,114 ✭✭✭✭Water John

So Mayo goes from having the Taoiseach and Ring, to having Mulherrin and Ring. Ouch.

Sounds like an endorsement for a female Donald Trump.
