Just on Amazon there to buy some of these and expected to pay the usual price of around £50 or so and was surprised to see them reduced to just £32 with free shipping.

    Currently £70 on Shavers.co.uk

^^ the first review on the bottom of the page is a shocker, with pics of the back of the guys head. Nice spot, but think I'll steer clear

The chap is clearly a clown. Wouldn't judge the product by his review.

Was on there today buying one as a gift as I already own one and was, like I said, pleasantly surprised by the price.

Bought this directly from Wahl for GBP35 to Parcel Motel. Seems to be decent.

Bought a skull shaver a few months ago and it’s by far the best head shaver I’ve ever had.

It’s only of use if you fully shave your head though as you can’t change the cut on it.

I've ordered one directly through Remington UK website a few days ago. Haven't got any email of shipment yet though. Shipped to parcel motel address and used revolut, had to change my address on revolut to that of parcel motel address for it to go through. £30 on the website.

How difficult are these to use for a diy job? Do you change blades etc and just go for it?

I had a set years ago in college. Just choose whatever blade and yes go for it. Easy enough to do

Tesco Extras ( and maybe some medium sized Tescos ) stock a few different models from Wahl. I bought one - not the cheapest one on the shelf - the other day for under €25.

Cutting my own hair for years. depends on your style, 2 on the back and sides and 5 on top with a 3 to bridge the cap between, takes practice.
wasn't a cost savings for me just i couldn't be arsed sitting in a barbers for an hour every 3-4 weeks

How do you manage the neckline at the back of your head?
Is that an ask for help job?

Yes I should of mentioned, every third cut I do I tidy the neck line with help from my partner, can be done with mirrors but never tried it

Does it give the blade zero result the clippers would ?

    Yes.

I keep my head at blade zero and I've tried so many different clippers over the years, including the Remington listed above, but I never found one that I was happy with so i've been wet shaving for the last few years but that's also a pain in the hoop.

Then I saw an ad for the Skullshaver and tbh it looked to good to be true but I thought why not try it so I bought the Silver Pitbull.

I can honestly say I will never use anything else again. It gets almost as close as a wet shave in half the time, with no messing and zero fuss. I was worried about skin irritation as i've had that with shavers in the past but not with this. You can also use water or foam with it which further reduces any irritation but haven't needed to.

The only drawback I can see is the cost of the replacement blades which are about €30. That said I've been using the original blade every second day since December and it still cuts like new.

It's a phenomenal bit of kit as long as you only want a straight zero all over.

I went for pit bull silver. I don’t think the additional features are worth the extra cost for the Gold or Platinum. The main feature is extra battery life but the Silver seems to go forever on a charge.

Would there be any point in buying one if I usually wet shave? I like the tightness of the wet shave.

Probably not but I just use it dry.

It’s just personal preference at the end of the day.

Wet shaving used to irritate my scalp. It was also time consuming and I’d regularly end up with a nick here and there especially when using a new blade.

I don’t have any of these issues with the skullshaver. It takes literally 2 mins to shave my head, no skin irritation and no nicks but If these things don’t affect you then you’d be as well off sticking with a razor.

there are likely loads of youtube clips on this. When I stared out I would hold my fingers on the back of my head to make sure I did not go up too far. A baseball cap can do the job if trying to do fading between blades.

Not all clippers will be the exact same. I have a wahl balding professional clipper and highly recommend it.

I was bored and looking up blades the other day,

for Wahl (and most others) a #1 blade is 1/8" (3.2mm), #2 is 1/4" (6.35mm), #3 is 3/8" all going up 1/8" at a time, I thought there might have been bigger jumps between the higher numbers

Hair is meant to grow 6 inches a year, or just under 1/8" a week. So if you get a #1 it should be a #2 after 1 week. This may be useful for people confined at home who always wanted to see what they would be like with a closer cut, knowing that a #1 would be a #3 in 2 weeks. A change can seem drastic at first but you get used to it fast, I find shaving with a #1 is way easier than say a #3.

My wahl balding is meant to cut to 0.4mm with no blade (zero), while a standard wahl like is 0.8mm.

average growth is 0.43mm per day, so the day after shaving with the balding would be as long as if I had done a zero with a regular wahl. Facial hair grows at the same rate so its like my balding blade gives me the equivalent of 1 days growth after proper razor smooth shave, the standard wahl should be the same as 2 days growth if you had done a wet shave.

I use the wahl balding on my face, and that is the reason I wanted one that went a bit closer. The blades criss cross at twice the speed so it is faster to use. Some review show people cutting themselves with it, which is risk, I have not got a cut in ages.

There are specialist razors your shaving your head. Seems it as a guide thing at the back so its at the correct angle of attack.
