Yes. Besides the new content you need it to bump your level cap to 40, anything you farm before then will be useless end-game. Be prepared to have purples drop at 31 that completely outclass your BiS from 30, the jump in level power I think is greater than each at 0-30. Also the SHD levelling system only opens up after you complete WoNY.

Also if you stopped right around WoNY you know the build diversty was pretty much destroyed with the updates then, it was all-red or nothing. Thankfully it's in a much better place now and the build diversity is actually pretty great imho. Skills and Status builds are a lot of fun and very effective with quite a few different ways to work them between the different sets. Hybrids are also quite fun now too, my current fave being an In-Sync/Spotter/Vigilance high damage + shield mix.
The new crafting system is great, I'd advise checking youtube for a good guide but you 'bank' talents and perks first and then can apply that banked quality to your other items infinitely. While you're working your way up bank every talent on every item past level 31, those do not change as you level up so a Spotter talent at level 31 is as good as one on a lvl 40, and since you would throw away that gear anyway get it out of the way early.
Also at level 40 you will get a weekly SHD project that just requires resources to trade for an exotic cache, a handy way for you to start catching up on them again. You can complete it for each character you have at that level also if you want to fast-track. Exotics can now be re-rolled at the crafting bench, get the blueprints for any exotic you already own (or have at any point) from the vendor beside it. It's not like standard crafting in that you can choose what to change it re-rolls the entire perk set, but it's fairly generous usually you'll get at or close to god-roll in 2 or 3 tries. Each re-roll costs one exotic component (another reason to make sure to get those caches weekly).

We finally got around to doing Iron Horse.
Was fun with the non DPS mechanics really allowing diverse builds and the big focus on team work.

Now to try and perfect it.

I see the base game is less than €10 on the store at the minute. The base + warlords of New York bundle is €30. Any opinions on if it is worth the extra €20!?

I would say yes. If you go through the posts here and elsewhere what you will always come back to is end-game issues. The main campaign and WoNY are very good, the characters don't draw me in the same way Div1 did but you get to revisit most in WoNY. There's a very good 40-60 hours there at least if you do nothing else. End-Game is good imho, but to be fair far from perfect. DICE have a big issue with not listening to their customers enough, they very much think it's their way or nothing with occasional seismic shifts to re-correct. It's a bizarre attitude and response pattern since the Div1 but it's part and parcel of this game. They will be adamant about keeping bizarre factors in the game and ignoring others, and then massively shift response once or twice a year before drifting back to the ignorance they had before. Overall it's a great product but this cycle can be really frustrating mostly from wondering if and when they will ever FKN learn from the past....But compared to transaction loving, content deleting chimps like Bungie this is forgivable imho.

    TL;DR
Absolutely get it for 30 it's a steal. I have 500 hours in, which is minor compared to many who still complain about end-game so that tells you something about bang-for-the-buck

West Potomac has Gear Set targeted loot for the next 10 hours or so. Do the usual event loop around the monument and between that and the accelerated leveling you can build the new set pretty quickly. After about 2 hours I've just the backpack left and if RNG doesn't bless me it's coming up as a Season reward in 3 levels.

    np.

I did the first 20 levels on Summit using a test build. Had both the Backpack and Chest for their boost talents and then 2 pieces of the new BAG for the armour regen and on-kill. Firewall specialisation with Shield and Drone, Lady Death and MOP for the weapon slots. Laughably powerful. 2 of the pieces had near full regen anyway so with the extra from the BAG set for normal levels I could just stand there under fire without the shield and complete tasks, shrugged the damage off passively. For the bosses even if I lost anything I had 30% on-kill (40% with the MOP) let alone the passive regen. I'll try it out on Heroic later properly. The backpack, with it's increased disorient range is ok but since the effect is so short and you need to be playing this set in-their-face I'll probably swap it out later. The Chest is worth keeping I think for the additional 20 seconds of damage buff but that really depends on what you are doing, for summit it usually gives you enough time to run between zones and keep that nice 25% extra damage but missions and open world I think you might be better off with another damage boosting piece/talent. I'm going to try a less tanky Intimidate/Adrenaline Rush build later, that will definitely improve damage even more and Adrenaline can make up for some armour loss from dropping the BAG pieces. Overall though for a run'n'gun SMG/Shotty build the new set is fantastic.

Sale on PSN today, division 2 is €5.09 and the game plus Warlords of NY is 15 euro.

Absolutely worth a fiver for anyone who hasn't tried it.

I'm tempted to get Warlords of New York, that new skyscraper update looks cool enough aswell only thing is I find matchmaking an absolute pain at times, sometimes I cant get into a game at all and I really prefer to play in a group rather than on my own... 😭

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,407 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

that's strange I've sunk thousands of hours into the Division 1 and 2 and always thought the matchmaking was great. I haven't played in a few months, is that a recent problem?

Anyone finding the grind for Rigeway exotic pieces a pain in the hole? Summit very repetative...

Matchmaking is very easy to access. As above very odd you cannot connect, log out and log in again to try again or try random heroic group - guaranteed to get in with a few players...

Im finding it hard to get into the main missions for match making, I can never seem to get into a team for the Manning National Zoo mission, its just a bit frustrating at times, I end up turning it off.. I'll try again today
I just dont want to buy the extra content if im going to run into the same issue its a shame really because I really like the game

I just did the first 20 floors so far. I picked up 2 pieces I think along the way. Yep it's not good in it's current state imho, nothing on the Underground in Div1 - that had some great rooms in the procedural gen loop but summit is mostly just a collection of boxes with a few more boxes placed randomly for cover. Even having so many rooms as under-construction is so bloody lazy. I'm guessing it has suffered heavily from the switch to full remote work but 'Lazy' absolutely sums it up for me. I hope the upgrades they have planned come to fruition as it has potential as a concept. BuzzLiteBeer (YouTuber) had some great ideas for this, in particular his suggestion of a survival style persistent run where you start with nothing and have to craft as you go would be a great option.

Update on the Hunters Prey build testing.
I switch out the BA armour pieces for more damage centric WalkerHarris 2pc on the chest and backpack, with Intimidate/PerfectAdrenaline . The extra damage is insane, 80% multiplicative at full burn just from clothing talents (all stacks for all talents loaded). My current sweetspot has 2 blue to bring my armour to 1.1mil, so it boosts my shield also to tier2 and with Adrenaline based on a percentage of current armour it's win-win imho. This works well up to Challenging, you can pretty much face tank anything below and just have a bit more caution on it. For Heroic if you stick with this build the damage is still great but since your shield will go down in one mag of a single NPC you need to be highly mobile, flick the shield up / kill NPC / drop the shield to reposition and repeat....which actually is really fun and I subconsciously fell into the mind set that I was running around the map hunting NPCs in hit and run really quickly, using Lady Death and it's 20% speed boost synergises well too. And looking at the set name is exactly how they intended it to be played, Kudos to the team that designed it as it's the first set I've used that has influenced my game style to match so naturally.

This game really pi$$es me off sometimes - The season manhunt contains two of my most frustrating missions - Killing Keener and the Tombs.

I am running a 1,750 SKD skill build so I'm handy enough, anyway a 3,500+ player was on team and a couple of guys at 350ish. The seasoned player was doing the usual BS of just running ahead and not picking up downed allies.

I was most definetly holding my own, raising team members and dropping lots of enemies, anyway - Get to final arena and just as Boss appears, I'm kicked. Bull$hit!

The risk of course with running with randoms is this kind of carry on but its so frustrating... Especially when mission completion is necessary to complete season manhunt.

Just went back and started it again, *sigh*

it doesn't happen that often but it's a real dick move
I've gotten into arguments with people trying to kick others randoms from the group

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,128 ✭✭✭_CreeD_

I solo pretty much everything, occasionally jumping into agent assistance calls but never matchmaking on something I have targeted. Avoids the hassle and risk of having a session ruined. I did the Keener mission tonight aswell, did the usual and just ran right up to him and gunned him down in about 10 seconds. But his launched Drone stayed, invisible/invulnerable/infinite spawn time and I couldn't exit. Had to just let the damn thing kill me, thankfully it did register completion.

It's a poxy mission. Gonna get it out of the way now... this end area STILL bugged... Christ. I love doing level 4 CPs solo and I've a build to run heroic solo but the loot levels are always less. Thrres more of a chance of running into moronic players but for the most part I feel is probably the best option for me. None of my mates play it... such a shame! With a good crew it's a cracking game.

I've gone back to this. Did the Liberty Island thing on challenging with randoms this morning (to hell with heoric on that mission). three lads who joined had crazy watch levels (whatever it's called) I mean I've poured a lot of time into it and think I'm at 600 or something. These guys were double or treble that and then some.
So when they all died on the boss at the end I was smirking to myself as I was running around reviving them.

Can you change difficulty without losing manhunt progress. F'n hate this mission on heroic.

Edit... just did it. Thought I was tied to heroic for all manhunt missions

you used to be tied into the difficulty level, they must have patched it out

I unlocked the new 'Backfire' a short while ago. Gave it a quick run on a Heroic CP without modifying my current build of 4xHunter's Fury and 2x W&H with Intimidate/Adrenaline. It's damage potential is tremendous when stacked like that and with the bonus from Adrenaline, a repair drone and 30% incoming repairs it was manageable so long as my armour was ok, say 50% plus. Bit if it broke anywhere in the middle of a firefight and god forbid my drone was down and the stacks were up it was near insta-death. Think of it like a potential Glass Cannon, that has more room to manage it either with your build or play. WotSitFox had some good ideas on using Hazard Protection to mitigate the bleed but I'd need do do a new build entirely for this so I think that's for a much later and much more bored date. Regardless when you aren't bleeding to death when it's stacked with the damage from the sets I mentioned it is nuts. With full Hunters and Backfire stacks I unloaded into spawning NPCs including the Heroic boss as they rushed in and he literally died in about 2 seconds.

Thanks, the Memento backpack does look fantastic. On a shield build it's 2+ tiers on it's own. Can't wait to get it.
