Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Email address being used as recovery email by spam accounts

    Hi,

    My better half has encountered this recently. She's getting mid notification emails that her email address has been added as a recovery email.

    4 in the past 24 hours. The email addresses adding her address are nonsense gmail addresses.

    Just additional information that may or may not be relevant. Her email is [firstname.lastname]@gmail.com so it's common enough for her to get emails in relation to other people with the same name.

    Is there anything to be concerned about or any steps to counteract this problem?

    On a device that you are happy that hasn't been compromised, change the password on the email account. Just in case.
