After getting a taste for Ice Climbing last year myself and my OH drove to Canmore, AB this year to learn how to properly Ice Climb at its Mecca. The drive itself is an adventure in and of itself with narrow high mountain passes. The commute was ~900km's, we did it in 11 hours. (I've tried to equate this for my Irish friends, it's like driving East to West to East in Ireland, twice in a day)

Anyway, the climbing was Amazing! Super plastic hero ice and it's everywhere so limitless options. If you want a break from tanning on Euro beaches for a week them hit up Canmore in the Winter. We where instructed by the guiding company Yamnuska.

went for a bit of wild camping on Friday (setout from Laragh) to test out my Gilbert solo tent I had bought recently. Camped just below Cullentragh. Nice little tent, I had an extra porch groundsheet from a bigger tent I have and used that for eating and then covering pack at night. I bought a cheap inflatable mattress and put this under the tent to protect the bottom of the tent and to not lose space inside the tent. Worked well very comfortable.
Woke up during the night , I don't think Ive seen anymore then a dozen stars in the last decade, what a sight....
