Hi, I could only find old threads about this, so decided to start a new one, hope thats ok.
I have checked with sandford language school & they have no idea when they will have enough pupils for a class.
Does anyone know of any other classes in Dublin? I know its not a popular language!

I will be spending a lot of time in Finland this year, so I would hope that will help, but i desperately need help with starting out!!
    any help appreciated.

Worth a try, I know a Finnish lad but he lives out in West Cork, he connects with others through this site and I also think they have a facebook page. You're bound to get some help there.

    Hey Op,
I'm moving to Helsinki in May.

I studied with sandford language for 2 semesters. A teacher named Tiina.
She is incredibly talented and helpful. A proper finnish language teacher.

Unfortunately the recent semester sandford was suppose to start a couple months ago got cancelled..on the day it was supposed to start. They really are quite dis-organised. There are several of us interested in a class, but they seem to have alot of trouble even tracking the few of us.
The first week, the principal didnt know there was supposed to be a class.. the second week.. nobody told the teacher there was suppose to be one.

    We gave up after that.

Ill be doing some private lessons for a couple months before i move. Sandford or private really are your only options for external help.
Of course, study yourself, there are lots of online courses for it, which are free.

    Here is one such:

You can at least get a start on it, and practice listening to sounds.

Here is another great resource that might be a bit too hard right now for you but its priceless in future.
    https://yle.fi/uutiset/osasto/selkouutiset/keskiviikko_2022019_radio/10655778
It is a radio news broadcast each day, in simply plain english, designed for people like us. It has the finnish text and its exactly spoken it. It helps me alot because it translate it using my browser, understand what it says, then i switch back to finnish and i can see/hear the words and know what they mean. Its brilliant for studying.

    Hope they help you.

Feel free to keep in touch and PM me.

    Ray
