Hi all,

    Quick question

    Are spruce plantations any hood for honey production for bees ?

    Not useful for honey production at all. But I have seen a bee collect resin from new needles on a spruce tree, presumably to create propolis.

    For the first ten years or so until they stary to close in and a few years post clear felling when they're full of briars and willowherb. But the only trees that are any use to bees are sycamore, spanish chestnut, lime, holly, apple, chestnut, blackthorn and whitethorn

    What about ivy?

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    What would attract bees to a Beech tree, loads of bees in it for the last few weeks.
