Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    The Greenland currents flow to the west. So wouldn’t they need to divert Southeast to cool our waters?

    Obviously without the Gulf Stream waters would cool slightly. But I can’t see a major cooling unless the Greenland currents divert.

    This cold blob seems to affect our Summers more than our Winters.

    There seems to be many cool spells in our Summers affected by the cold blob. Winter is probably relatively cool already so not as noticeable.

    Though maybe because not as much ice around Greenland is melting in Winter the cold blob is not there as much in Winter as in NOAA chart above.
