Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Anyone know where I can get this? It used to be available for free download on remhq but it's gone now.

    i found a dodgy download site that claims to have it but they want your CC number.

    Also if you're interested in different takes of REM stuff, you should definitely check out the remix Monster album on the 25th anniversary edition, it's on spotify. When I say 'remix', it's just got different emphasis and layering on the original tracks, cuts some fills, ramps up some backing vocals, removes fuzz on some guitar parts etc. I like it very very much. More than the original album at this point I'd say.

    Thanks for posting these. I'll try and find the other ones as well. I find myself listening to a lot of old R.E.M. stuff again this past while - what a great band. I saw them play at Lansdowne Road in the late 90s I think - what a great feeling when they came on stage.

    Saw them 5 times myself, including in the Olympia Theatre in 2007, what a superb night, all songs were either testing songs from the upcoming Accelerate album or from their 80s albums.

    Was that with The Go-Betweens? I was at that one. Missed the 5 nights at the Olympia though.

    I don't know who the support was. I missed all of the support acts. I was walking through the tunnel onto the pitch as R.E.M. were coming on stage. The feeling was incredible.

    Agree re the 25th anniversary Monster remix. Great set, shame that the packaging is inconsistent with each one.

    Go Betweens supported them indoors in the Simmonscourt Arena, RDS, 1989 I think (possibly 88). Sound was pretty lousy.

    24 June 1989 - two days before my Matric started. The sound was indeed poor but thankfully was fixed for The Cure's performance three weeks later (still my favourite gig of all time).
