Yes it is a bit strange though, no masks in sight and a bar service for the reduced audience. It's a stark contrast to F1 with practically no audience, everyone masked up and all outdoors.

Just watching the Players Championship on ITV4. Seems to have been a little bit of argy bargy between Van de Voort and Cullen at the end of the match, anyone know what happened?

It's not the players championship it's the world series.

Ye cullen was complaining that the stage board height was different to the height of the practice board in the players room.such a BS he was well beaten dunno why he bought all that in to it.
Why didn't he complain early doors, why leave it till the end.

Not exactly the rockingest atmosphere, albeit a low quality card.

But, at least it's paying customers.

If the Ally Pally isn't open for fans in December, I wonder how tempted Barry would be to move the Worlds to tonights venue (or similar).
If the box-office can take in say 1500 fans per session at even a lowly €25, that's nearly €2M over 3 weeks towards the prize-fund.

In fairness a Friday night in European darts is always dead, will probably pick up tomorrow.
Matt Porter gave an interview other day said world championship is at ally pally with or without fans.

Don't think he will secure a card anyway. He's not consistent enough. Unless he's after hitting some form since retiring.

he is back for the money....his wife is bleeding him dry, and his new girlfriend is a gold digger, well she is hardly with him for his sh1tty personality.

and besides he craves the attention.

Justin is right.. He must owe Sylvia a fortune and keeping a younger girlfriend happy wouldn't be cheap.. What a clown

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭US2

He has easier ways to make more money. He has to actually win events to make decent money which ain't going to happen.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,287 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

His (presumed) plan of 5 years of free holidays and lucrative exhibitions around the world with Phil Taylor, Mardle etc has pretty much hit the covid buffers. And no real chance of it being back on track for the next 6/12 months.

Will he get a card do ye reckon? I wouldn't be putting the mortgage on it

first off you must factor in Barney is a proven compulsive liar, who has countless times stated prior to xmas, he would be doing the full tour next year....a ploy so he could keep getting his undeserved PL spot, then when the new year would start, miss most events, then at the end of the year repeat his lies again.

So if he is telling the truth this time he most likely will enter the euro q-school, and would be up against players like Nico Kurz, Gino Vos, Seigo Asada from Japan, and guys like Martin Schindler who moist likely will lose his card this year.

Ability wise, he should easily win a card. The problem is the psychological side with Barney. If the first day goes bad I don't think he'd win one.

Anyway he has to turn up first.

Even if he does win one, he'll start on £0 and have to do every single to event to have any chance of making TV tournaments.

Would the small money he made in 2019 (e.g., £7.5K at the most recent World Championship) not still count towards his two year ranking?
Or did giving up his card cause a reset.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,245 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

It causes a reset as another player took his card.

I watched the match, and believe me, he started one leg with a score of 40, followed that with another score of 40, then hit a 180, and then more muck and a good finish,,,,thats what i meant by patchy
