Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi there,

    I am moving back to Ireland from overseas next month and have been suffering some bad GI issues that I need to get investigated.

    Any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated;
    Wait times for a specialist with private healthcare insurance?
    Wait times for testing after the specialist appointment?

    I'll be in the Midwest.

    Hi.

    You will need to be referred to a specialist by your GP.
    Wait time can be a few weeks for a private consultation up to a couple of months.

    Once the referral has been submitted, you can contact the office to let them know you would like to be seen asap and can be available for short notice/cancellation appointment.

    Regarding tests.
    Imaging for private patients is usually very quick as are endoscopy.

    Bloods and other tests of that nature usually immediate. Some types of test may require sample to be sent to labs outside the state but even then the turnaround time is usually quick.
