I was thinking of using above new bull of Munster on a good strong red lim heifer? I never gave a sim to a maiden before but his Calving difficulty is 0.18% in new munster book.. could this be right?! i forgot to look at %reliability but he was only born in Sep 09 so there should be calves out of him alright.

only reason i looking at sim is because there is a lot of limousin in her and she is a big heifer will be well developed for bulling at 22 months

The only calves off him are a handful on David walls herd. (he imported the embryos from the US) I was talking to him this week and he said they came handy enough from heifers but thats only one farmer.
Those figure will definatly go up from that rediculously low level but hopefully not by too much

    APZ
    Have a look here;
    http://www.icbf.ie/taurus/bull_search/index.php?search_type=num&search=apz

Reliability is 0% so no calves on the ground yet.
If I were you I'd use IS4 instead, if you can get your hands on a few straws. He's not exactly easy calving, but at least Rel is at 99%.

Oh i see that now about the reliability.. Ive used IS4 on a cow that broke after being scanned in calf this year, she now not due til June :( i figured if i got a heifer i could leave her on there as a late calf. I dont know at 7% would i chance him on a maiden, iĺl not be bulling them until end of March to calve jan 13 so ill see how APZ figures go

pakalasa, what do you think of IS4 calves any of them calved yet?

I've only one heifer from him (IS4). She's a year and half old now, due to FL22 next April. She went in calve first time. She's exceptionally quiet. Not very muscley, but I'm hoping she'll be a very good working cow, go in calf easily, with plenty of milk. Here's a pic from Oct last. She's out of my best cow aswell. A cow that always went in calf on the first straw, for 6 years now.

Anyone used the lim bull Pacha 08? He sounds like a good bull to breed replacements from.

I'm told you will ask yourself: What in the name of jaysus did I do using that yolk, when you see the calves!

I happened upon his owner (A good Kerryman!) and he told me the calves are small at birth but at a few weeks old you won't know them!
I think BZB is a small bull himself.
He told me too he has BZB heifers calving and they are bagging up nicely!
Did you see his herd on facebook? Lovely stock!

Ya, I know the man you're talking about, sound man. I've seen a few calves off him, v small at birth alright. To be honest thats why I used him, hoping to avoid calving problems. Haven't seen them a few months old though. I have seen a bull calf off sansonnet at 5 months old off a good pedigree PT cow. Wasnt impressed atall, not a great calf, owner of cow not impressed either.

On the subject of BBQ, I hear he aint producing the pure drop anymore.
So buy a few straws if you want them, they might not be around much longer.
Or maybe the sap will rise in him again in the spring:D

Could be lovely cows. Pick those with the widest ends on them.

just IMO lads but with AA in there especially offspring would be lacking in height, all the edj cows heifers I've seen are small ... I have one out of him but she never grew much... 20 months now... might just Ai her and flog her on point of calving

You could very well be right. I have seen AA X FR with enough growth though. It's often the case that using a BB will limit size. I suppose though it's easy enough to cure: Again the heifer is old enough to bull, her size can be evaluated!

that's true the Fr would have extra height to bring to the table... we all beef ie no dairy so all offspring I've seen out of edj have been vertically challenged ... I'd give her the growthiest easy calving lim I can get just in case I end up keeping her, she a nice blue grey with White udder.. If she were 10" bigger she'd be a dinger!!

i have calved a bundle of bbxfr heifers since sept, they were bred from edj and jok. in my experience trying to pick the goodlooking cows out of a bundle would be a waste of time, the ugly narrow disgusting type will often throw nuch nicer calf than the good straight square cow.

    Hello,
I have an average sized charolais heifer with extreme muscle, shape and width.
She is the best animal we ever had on this farm.
The thing is i want a show calf out of her but it would be a shame to see her not go back in calf if I used a hard calving Bull.
    She is a second calver.
She is a show quality animal, but we just didnt bother,we thought we would get showcalf's out of her.
    P.S.
    Bulls on Progressive Genetics
    Thanks
i would use a blonde bull on her he will put height into her and they are not hard calvers i would recommend kilmony bruce (kce) but he is with dovea.if u want a lm i would use ardlea dan (adx)she should put muscle into him and he will put style into him.

anyone got any info or calves from bova BB bulls wacko or barco, was thinking of trying them, any trouble calving etc ?

I used the Delfur T bone bull from Bovea AI on a white head cow this morning hoping to get a nice replacement heifer. Has anybody got any of his calves on the ground? What do you think of them?
The cow has a 2 month heifer calf at foot out of CASTLEVIEW CASINO and it is making great shape and size so I hope it will make a good replacement some day.

Put him on a real good cow last year and have a decent bull calf. I think Kilbride Farm Newry (KFY) is a better all round bull.

The new bull AZL, was sired by BYU. Photos of calves by him up on the Livestock Photo thread.

not a patch on his sire BYU unfortunately

I'm leaning towards agreeing with this statement ... Have seen nothing to write home about from AZL
