Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    The fella who invented e-mail in 1971 died yesterday. Without his work the @ key would have an inch of dust on it.

    When asked what the first emailed contained, he said in an interview in 2009, that they were trying so many attempts to successfully transmit a message, that they just used to mash the keypad or type qwerty, etc.

    So the first ever email was just nonsense gibberish or spam.

    Never heard of him before, but good to see some coverage of his passing. Most of the credit for the internet seems to go to DARPA or Timothy John Berners-Lee and email seems largely forgotten. Not to say email and the internet are the same, you know what I mean...

    What a joke.

    A method of communication over wires that the real teckies invented ie hardware.

    Without the hardware ie intel etc you couldn't do diddly squat.
