Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hi All,

    Whats the secret to garden centres having green/lush/near perfect buxus hedges?

    I have one potted in top soil but can see after few months the colouring goes so wondering how the garden centres do it?

    Fertiliser. Most plants they stock have enough fertiliser to last for a year

    Buxus are a tricky plant. They should be in a sheltered spot, as they wind-burn very easily. Drought damages them, and rain often doesn’t get to their roots, depending on how they are clipped. Regular watering of the roots is needed. In production they are drip watered in a poly tunnel. Fertilizer is needed, they are greedy. And they are prone to disease, box blight.
