Mixers or Nixers? One earns tax free money and the other is a good way to meet new people.

Since you've included both, are you promoting some sort of hybrid work/night out thing?

It's Nixer Mixers. They had a promotions night here last week. Too sweet for my liking but cheaper, as they are tax free.

Get a can of Guinness Draught and a bottle of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.

Pour the first can pour in the usual way - open the can, wait for it to stop hissing, roll the widget around inside the can for a few seconds, then pour, making sure to roll it a bit if the head isn't coming out thick enough.
Stop two thirds of the way through the pint glass, as usual.

Then, open the bottle of Foreign Extra. Now this is where it gets a little complicated - what you have to do is, hold the bottle by the neck, put your thumb over the opening, and then shake it a couple of times. the pressure will build up behind your thumb - this is normal - let your thumb ease off a tiny bit, enough to slowly let the air escape. When the foam reaches your thumb, clamp it back on tightly. Hold the bottle sideways over the glass, and then ease off the side of your thumb which is pointing downwards.

If you do this right, foam will shoot from the bottle straight into the glass, thickening the head. Once this process is finished, tilt the glass and pour the stout normally.

You end up with a nicely strong beer mix (the foreign Guinness is 7.5% so it adds a bit of body) and nice thick, creamy Guinness head, slightly thicker than what you'd usually get in the pub. Deeeeeee-licious mix.

The best part is that if you measured it right, you should have enough left in each to make a second pint from the same two containers - the second one will probably have more Fes than draught, so it'll be a little stronger, and you might need to repeat the process of generating foam in the bottle as a lot of the gas from the widget will have been wasted with the first pint. Of course, if you don't like the head of the Guinness (some prefer a thinner one) then this obviously doesn't apply.

    Enjoy!
