No shamrock on the winglets ??

Hopefully there’s one on the inside of the winglet, otherwise they’re majorly missing a trick for free brand awareness in people’s instagrams

Yeah that's annoying the hell out of me too, Shamrocks on the winglets, cowlings and putting the ones on the tail and the forward fuselage in the same orientation would make all the difference I feel.

The live stream doesn't, err, seem to be streaming any video. It 'started' at 12:30 but has just sat on the waiting screen

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5P2obq0aDk

Oh finally at 12:41, I guess that counts as 'on time' since it was within 15 mins...
And mute for the 'feel good' history video.
Evolving! Embracing! Challenges! Imagining! Inspiring! Wish I'd brought my Biz-Word Bingo sheet.
Mike Rutter didn't think it was important enough to iron his suit.
Oh 'guest stories'. Mute again. Just get on with it already.
8 minutes in and we're still talking about the past
    We're not GUESTS we're PASSENGERS.
What's the point of showing us A321LR renderings in the old livery, huh?
So apparently the old livery didn't express the ability to fly beyond Ireland.
Green and the Shamrock are Irish! Movement is loved!
Too much coloured-paint on an aeroplane conveys 'low cost'. WTF?
The new 'g' letter is non-Irish in nature!
"The moment has arrived" she announces. And then plays another filler video.
HAHAHAHA! BLUE! **** ME! That's hideous.

That new livery looks dreadful to me.

    Blue? Aer Lingus. No thanks.

I looks like they've rented a few planes for the summer with white livery and stuck a shamrock on the tail.

Not ugly by any means but what they had was much better and there was no need to change it.

This presentation so far is a cringe fest of the highest order.

Eurowhite lives on. Seeing it in full and not too impressed tbh.

Did the audio drop out on the feed for anybody else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,826 ✭✭✭intellectual dosser

I don't think thats ever going to grow on me.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if it was a swear-filter!
That is cheap, tacky and Alaska-derivative. Shameful.

    Yep, audio did drop.
I do quite like the font.

Watching on YouTube here, am I right in saying, they unveiled the new livery, reception seemed to me.... not great shall we say, and the feed has been cut?

It dropped after but it wasn't even met with applause, nobody impressed I'd say

Tail I can live with the front name and shamrock looks hideous

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,525 ✭✭✭kona

The shamrock at the front is the wrong way :pac:

I lost audio too. The A330 looks poor in that presentation. Euro white is totally boring and the tail colour looks more blue than green.

A very weak half-hearted effort. Hugely disappointing imho, now that I've seen the finished product.

Why rebrand into something that makes it look like any other airline when what you had stuck out for all the right reasons? As in it looked great? They'll spend a crap load on this and in the end will end up reverting back years down the line to what they had at another huge expense.

What time is CVA due to depart from Shannon?

  • Registered Users Posts: 64 ✭✭meathenterpr

If the new livery is the best of the lot I shudder to think what the others look like. It is awful.

Left at 1:05pm according to FlightRadar. Circling around the Shannon/Fergus Estuary at the moment

Disappointing but at least it's not the worst looking Euro-White.

Still think Euro-White liverys are hideous and cheap looking, whereas liverys like Ethiad come across as very luxurious.

    Oh well!

currently out of the hanger. Posted in EI thread that’s it’s going on a photo shot off the coast before arriving in Dublin.

Just saw CVA departing Shannon this second. It looked quite well imo!

it's obvious that their focus groups perceived the old livery as Are Lingus, the airline that'll bring you to and from Ireland. This isn't their vision nowadays and they needed to refresh the livery to something that positioned them as a value carrier from anywhere in Europe to north America. I can totally see what they've done and the reasoning behind it and I actually quite like it. As their marketing director said, they want to be seen as an international airline that happens to be from Ireland. Their vision as a carrier to North America is exciting though and could be great for the Irish economy into the future.

It's worse than I thought. The A330 looks terrible, way too much white.

I wonder what sort of money these design companies get for "brand refreshes". It seems like easy money.

On the website it says that the shamrock is retained on the inner sides of the winglets.
