Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Broadband speeds buffering

    Hi there,

    What broadband speeds are sufficient for a constant hd (720p even let alone 1080p) picture.

    I have good download speeds over ethernet so assume it must be my provider that is letting me down.

    Would massively appreciate advice as so frustrating with a choppy picture at certain times of weekends in particular

    What is the source of the stream? Are there any other devices on the same BB connection? What is your connection speed?
    5Mbps would be theoroticily sufficient for 720p but there are a tonne of other variables that would effect that.

    HD IP streamed TV picture is about 7.5 mbps Mpeg4 or 3-4mbps HEVC.
