Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

How to get to Ikea from Dublin Heuston Train Station

    Hi guys

    Going to Ikea some day next week. Don't fancy driving to there and will be getting the train from Mallow to Dublin Heuston Station.

    How do l get to lkea from heuston station and how much would it costs?

    I tried the journel/route planner but kind of confusing.

    LUAS to Abbey St, walk to O'Connell St and get a 140 from there, it goes straight to IKEA. Less than a fiver each way, you'll need change for the bus.

    it's a hell of a trek to make on public transport, given that you won't be able to carry a lot away - unless you were planning on ordering and having stuff delivered?

    • Route 747 to the airport
    • Aer Lingus to Newark Airport, USA
    • New Jersey Transit bus route 62 to IKEA
    Might be a bit troublesome getting the purchases home though :)

    Yeah, it's definitely the better option. Make sure what you're buying will fit your car though.

    Don't do this. Newark is like a bad bad version of Busaras.

    It's a short walk from Heuston Station to James's Street where you can catch the 13 bus that will bring you another short walk to Ikea.

    Yes, they do.

    Look at this TV stand, scroll down to 'Product Details' and you'll see that they publish the dimensions of the finished article ('assembled size') and the two packages it comes in ('packages size and weight') .....

    If OP is coming up from Mallow and has decided to bring the car after all, he might as well go to the main store. Carrickmines might make sense if you live on the southside of Dublin and you want a specific item that you don't need to see in advance - they have bugger all stuff on display.

    It doesn't actually do Click and Collect, which is so stupid, you have to go there, order the stuff in-store (and they won't have it in-store) and then wait for it to be delivered, and then go back in. I have literally no idea why they don't let you order online for pickup, as Ikea certainly have that facility in other countries.
