Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Studying: PhD Chemistry

    University of Bordeaux

    Its been overall a great experience, however after 3 years living here its been difficult. I made some great friends, but since its a post graduate degree alot of those people have since moved on to other cities. Bordeaux is not the easiest place to fit in for a long time.

    Wouldnt mind that myself actually. Wouldnt recommend derby to anyone, the course itself is grand, the college and the area would wreck ones head.

    I'm doing an MSc in Science Communication in Imperial College, London. I finished Science in Trinity last year and while I liked it, it was wrecking my head by the end, and honestly this course suits me a lot better!

    hi! in Buckinghamshire New Uni, just north of London. Just finishing my second of 3 years, dont enjoy it at all!!! the uni is pretty poor, although non uni life is very enjoyable, and London is great!!

    actually in the library trying to do an assignment, but naturally my mind has gone wondering!!

It was possible to catch up on the amount of gaelacht weeks. Between a few other people and myself research was looking positive untill the final answer came back. It would be possible to transfer, if I obtained the cao points for that the year of entry for that year group as that would be fair to other students who applied in that year. I was grateful for the support in looking into my case, but gutted.

    However, I will be 23 starting my 3rd year in September so I will be considered a mature student. I believe mature students are exempt from the points system. I will have two years behind me and 10 weeks teaching practise.I am thinking of appealing my case. I really don't want to come across annoyingly persistent after their help but I feel that their numbers in the year group may have dropped as there are always people who decide teaching is not for them. I'm not intending taking anyone's place who could potentially get on the course just replacing someone . I've taken the inniative to train elsewhere in the meantime if the points system is getting in the way when it isn't relative, its a shame.
    Do I have a case or am I going to get a 2nd kick in the teeth by setting myself up to ask again?

    jus saw this post, not sure if its too late, but i also tried to transfer and wud have had no problem only im doing sport management and the only other relevent course in ireland was in carlow IT, which has only got a first yr at the minute, so would have to wait to catch up. carlow IT however didnt mention cao points for my transfer. generally u apply to the uni itself in the 'advanced entry' section on their website, so maybe you should try that. in terms of being a mature student, im pretty sure you dont count, im 23, but as im in second yr, i started my course not as a mature student, which is what counts.

    All i can say is that this is one of the best experiences you will ever have.
    I am originally from the states, but have been living in Europe for years! I studied art in London, Geneva and Italia! I can only highly highly recommend it! :cool:

    I am finishing 2nd year at UCC and I am off to Padova, Language and Cultural studies. Bigest problem in preparing to go is that the VEC grant does not coover Italy, so it could get financially fraught. The cost of accoodation - looking at Easystanza - is silly, 200 Euro for a tiny room in an apartment shared with three or four other people? Language is challenging, but exciting. How do I seel up my life in Ireland before going?

    Soon to be starting a PhD in QUB, don't know if Northern Ireland counts as abroad but I have to do half of the research in the Bengal Engineering and Science University, India so that's pretty far! Finishing off an MSc at TCD, did a BA in UCD so it's nice to get out of Dublin for a while.

    Hi ajk86,

    Im heading out there to study vet med in september aswell all going well.

    Not sure where to start regarding organising accomodation though. Was planning to go over shortly to try and view appartments but im working at the moment and its tricky trying to organise everything. I'd quit the job but I need every penny i can get!! What way are you planing on organising it?

    Isn't Budapest a really great city? How did everything sort itself out for you with study and all? Did you get sorted with a flat through an agent? More importantly, did you sus out the rather decent night life...although the late licence small bars are a bit of a danger...nobody says last order!!

    I got an offer for a BSc in Occupational Therapy at Derby today.
    I am a mature student ( early twenties) and am really picky about where I want to spend the next three years!
    You said you would not advise Derby- is the Uni awful?
    Any advice around universities in the UK would be brilliant!!!!
