    Hi all,

Does anyone know how it works in Bushy Park? All the other sections (bowls, skateboard park) have signs up to tell you the procedure for using them but the tennis doesn't..

I read here previously that it is a few euro per person and just turn up, but I don't see any office or anything at the tennis courts?

Not any more. Bushy Park courts were free and open to public for many years because lack of facilities to control access and poor surface before recent renovation.
Now after renovation they are access paid €7 adult, €5 kid which make it used mostly by advanced players who can afford to pay.
Pity as many people (like myself) would go there just to try or learn and not even play really games.
This is real face of crooked politicians and greedy councils looking for money rather than healthy citizens.

I don't have a problem with people paying to use these excellent facilities. If they are free, then people won't appreciate and respect the effort put into making these courts the way they are

Yeah surely if they can't afford it then they better stay home watching TV and eating fast food. Being fit and sporty should be privilege not granted to everyone. Especially if you live in expensive area like South Dublin.

Wouldn't they be better putting the money they were gonna spend on that rubbish towards a good game of tennis?

Nothing is free and the sooner people realise that the better.

That courts were actually free for many years and it was nice place to come if you are absolute beginner or want to just spend active time with friends or family. Not anymore, unless you dont mind spending €15 - €20 for fun...

Talking about "nothing is free" - I remember someone moaning about Irish nature and heritage lands being privatised and commercialised - comparing to Scotland for example, where all these are free access and then popular tor trekking and other forms of tourism:
