I'm technically not a postgrad at the moment, but I have an MA in Modern English from UCD (me and scop were in the same class), I'm applying for the H.Dip in BFIS in UCC and I'd eventually like to do a PhD in English or Linguistics.

    Hmmm, just noticed this now.

Have an MSc in computing and toying with the idea of a PhD.

So is this a good forum to get advice from PhD holders? :)

Yup, should be :) I don't have a PhD in computing (I'm a Biologist) but there are many elements of interest across the board shared by PhD students regardless of subject.

EDIT, great to see so many NUIM people here :)

That's what I am thinking, not so much the subject of the PhD, more the approach, impact to family life, job prospects, etc.

That's what I keep telling myself. I've been out for three years, though. We'll see how this goes.
