Forum Charter [READ BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER] 02/03/2009

Welcome to the Building Energy Rating forum.

Please take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the rules of the Forum. This charter should be read in conjunction with the main Construction & Planning forum charter which covers all the sub forums of Construction & Planning.

This forum is intended for discussion of:

    Building Energy Rating issues,
    DEAP software issues,
Other BER software issues (SBEM, SAP, etc)
Associated similar Europe-wide initiatives determined by the European ‘Energy performance of Buildings Directive’,

by fellow users, and as a place to exchange tips and advice.

General rules of etiquette and good manners are to be respected at all times.

Do not reply to a post by inserting text within the quoted post.

Any threads naming specific companies/traders will be deleted. Exceptions to this will be at the moderators' discretion.

Threads looking for recommendations in a certain area will be allowed but any recommendations should be given by pm only.

Any thread/post that is used to advertise, pimp or recommend any person or business will be deleted and the poster will be banned indefinitely.

All genuine queries can be debated providing legal advice is not being sought. Comments on grounds for objections and appeals are acceptable providing they conform to the above.

This forum is designed to debate and advise on BER issues, but should not be considered as a substitute for, or opposition to, any accredited training course or SEI stated training policies. Only SEIs clarification can be considered definitive, and no post here should be considered as such.

Do not advertise any commercial activity on this site. This will lead to an immediate ban, the duration of which is at the moderators discretion.

Please refrain from posting personal abuse, bad language, advertising, spam or anything else that may warrant a ban.

The forum shall not be used by anyone for the purpose of personal gain by advertising their services. This includes user names.

Whilst advice might be sought/given, posters should make every effort to verify advice expressed herein with an independent and knowledgeable third party. The advice and opinions expressed on this forum are not those of Boards.ie Ltd. and the management accepts no responsibility for what is written and posted here.

On construction related matters any specifying of structural components is prohibited. Any queries in this regard need to be dealt with by an architect/engineer privately.

Any attempt to seek or give advice as to any action that would constitute a breach of law will result in a banning.

The SEI list of registered assessors is considered the OFFICIAL list of registered assessors. Any attempt to purport another list or organisation as being a list of assessors will be considered a breach of rules and action will be taken.

While the Building Energy Rating process, including the legalities involved may be discussed in full, please note that seeking legal advice may result in a ban.

Surveys, research etc may not be posted unless previously agreed with the forum mods.

Lastly, any defamation found in this forum will result in the thread/post being edited or deleted. Defamation is when something is said about another person (legal, natural or otherwise, that means companies can be defamed) that is untrue and damaging.
