    Last day of the Finals.

Magnus Carlsen v Wesley So in the Final.
Teimour Radjabov v Ian Nepomniatchtchi in the 3rd / 4th Playoff

Day 1 drawn in both matches, so a winner in today's mini-match wins the tie or we go to Blitz and potentially armageddon.

This is a major so it gives an entry into the season finale which is played OTB in San Francisco, as well as $200k in prizemoney plus 2.1825 BTC for the winner which is currently fluctuating around $80k having been worth $100k at the start of the tourney.

Magnus is leading against Wesley thanks to a win with his 1st white game, same is true for Ian, game 3 is currently underway which is So and Ian's last white game unless we go to blitz.

Wesley wins Game 2, Magnus with the White pieces in the Game 3, 2 draws, or a win a piece, will take us to the Tiebreaks, Blitz and perhaps Armageddon! Radjabov doing the same in his final White game to tie that one up too, Nepo with 1 shot with the White pieces to avoid the Tiebreaks!

And the final comes down to an Armageddon, Wesley as the highest seed from the prelims gets to pick the colour, most seem to pick black these days as you get the draw odds and it makes sense from a results perspective. Magnus had to win the 2nd Blitz with black and managed to do so, so momentum should be with him!

Excellent event (forgetting the quick draws) - Magnus didn’t seem to have his usual control, but never seen him fight like that.

Indeed, it was a great event, arguably the strongest in history, even if it is rapid and not classical. 12 of the top 13 rated classical players in the world, only poor Pichot from Argentina was truly overmatched and only Richard Rapport from the top 13 classical players was not present per the June Fide Classical rankings.

We get back into some proper OTB chess now with the Bucharest round of the Grand Chess Tour starting on Thursday, but with play starting on Saturday.
