Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Birth records / Baptisms pre 1860

    I'm looking to find a name of my Great Great grandfathers Mother.
    He was born 1847. He had siblings older too. And some born 1850s.
    We know his father's name from marriage certs but can't find the mother's name.
    Are all baptisms registered ?
    Is this the only way of finding her name ?

    Do you the details of the fathers death?

    Headstones, wills, death notices, death records - all may mention the wife by name.

    Have a read of our sticky.

    Not all baptisms will still exist. Church copy of the marriage record is the first place I'd try.

    No details of the fathers death. The death records I reckon is one of the ones you cant access and have to order. Maybe I've gone as far as I can.
    Great Grandfather was born 1847.
    It's his parents I want to get to.
    I know he had a brother buried with him who was born around 1836 or so.
    So I reckon the mother and father were married early thirties or so.
