Another example of how lockdowns have negative effects on people's health.

Sad to see that, she always seemed so fragile and damaged.
Not sure putting her on big brother exactly helped her.

Huh? She was fundraising for life saving surgery so nothing to do with lockdowns I would think...unless you know different?

Ah that is very sad. I remember seeing a pic of her on some tabloid or other a while back and God love her she looked dreadful.

    Rest in Peace Nikki.

Her mother said that she wasn't able to go the gym and therefore wouldn't eat.

She finally lost her long battle with anorexia. The poor girl. And so young. That is just terrible.

Dunno where you're seeing that, in the link I posted in the OP her friends were trying to raise money for her to get private treatment for her anorexia.

She did an interview recently and said her anorexia was worse than ever as a result of covid and all the lockdowns etc. God love her. It's terribly sad.

    Its in the link
"Then in December she fell down and cracked her pelvis in two places and broke her wrist. I stayed with her for three or four weeks because she couldn’t do anything.”

She struggled with anorexia for a long long time, before the gyms were shut

    To anorexia yes.

Well her mother said that lockdown had an impact on her mental health because of the isolation that came with it and going the gym was a big part of her life both socially and physically

Fundraising for specialist private care for anorexia nervosa

We have set up this page for our very close and dear friend Nikki. As some of you may know, Nikki is battling Anorexia. She has been battling for most of her life and as you can see, Nikki is now in a very bad way so we need to do something quickly.

Over the past years Nikkis family and friends have tried so desperately to get Nikki all the help possible through the NHS but unfortunately the treatments have failed and we have exhausted every avenue possible, and now Nik is unfortunately in a very bad way, this is now our

Her friends had shared some images of her recently trying to raise money to get her into a special clinic. I just looked at the pictures and they are absolutely horrific. I'm not surprised she died after seeing them. It's a terrible illness.

Haven’t a clue who she is

But that’s a terrible way to go

    RIP

I can't understand why anyone would be defensive about covid and all that's come with it having a negative effect on someone with anorexia. It's not much of a leap at all.

    RIP!

She had anorexia nervous for many years. The lifetime prevalence of anorexia is 1% for women. It is a truly awful condition, and stole this poor woman of a wonderful life.

Absolutely . Anorexia nervosa is a mental health issue and covid will have huge negative effects on anyone with mental health problems

Anyways God love her. If there is another life, I hope she's at peace.

It’s a horror. It must be one of the worst mental health issues to suffer from.
People feel that the only aspect of their lives they can have total control over is their calorie intake, so they determine to fixate on their weight.
It used to be referred to as “the slimming disease” when I was young but it turned out to be far more complicated then that.
The incomparable Karen Carpenter died from complications related to her multiple eating disorders.

People without mental health issues prior to Covid have developed them as a result, let alone people living with mental illness.

Anorexia nervosa is THE most lethal mental illness of them all. Awful thing to suffer from and horrific for loved ones who have to watch the sufferer disintegrate and waist away in front of their eyes. I think eating disorders are still very poorly understood, and they are often manifestations of more complex mental health issues.

What an awful way to die. What an awful tragedy.

I'll admit I'd never heard of Nikki as I don't watch BB, but I googled when I saw the thread.

Horrendous illness and such a tragic way to die. The mental illness with the most obvious physical signs, yet still often fatal.

I worked with an anorexic/bulimic woman (thankfully recovered since). God help her it was frightening and heartbreaking. Her shocking thinness, the way she was always saying "oh I'm stuffed - I had loads to eat earlier", the way she was constantly going to the loo to make herself sick.

Terrifying. A therapist I know who recovered from it herself said it's not even about food - it's about control, perfection, it's kinda related to OCD, and it can also be about not wanting to enter adulthood, or it can result from abuse/trauma.

My mother used to be a nurse - she retired early because cases like this (including boys too) were just too upsetting for her to handle anymore. And she's a tough woman.

A nightmare of a disease. Poor Nikki and her family - and all going through the same.
