I have a parcel sitting in Dublin since lunch time Wednesday. What's up with that? Is this normal delay?

    Likewise here.
My tracking says -sorted in Dublin Weds 6th. Still waiting for delivery.

My Amazon order page initially said , delivery next Tuesday .
It would seem An Post do not want to make a liar out of Amazon

I have a small parcel, nothing awkward or heavy that according to tracking has been in dublin (from the states) since April 23rd, i know they are dealing in large demands and may have many off sick however my partner ordered something similar two days after me and has it now. Very strange, no?.

CN stuff acts that way all the time. They don't seem to bother processing cages First In First Out.

Thinking of ordering a few bits off Wish, am I wasting my time? The wait time is long enough in normal times let alone during this.

The delays are pretty extreme now, they must be dealing with an enormous number of parcels each evening. It will clear eventually though.

Same here, parcel arrived last Wednesday and stuck. What's up with that? Is there an email or phone number to ring.

Sent an Email last Friday but, guess what no reply . If you try ring any of the variety of on An post numbers ,as soon as you look for tracking , you are referred to the website.

( An post are not alone at this I have spent 2 hours on the phone today trying to contact Niteline /parcel motel to get info on a parcel sent from Limerick last Tues. Tracking shows it Limk/Dublin/Dublin/outbound/outbound/ Weighed Sat. @2112 and, it still has not arrived)

Just listen to the options until you get one that lets you speak to someone, ignore the "go online to track" messages.

I've rang them three times in the last week to get a straight answer about where my package is and every time I've gotten through to an agent, they've never referred me to the website.

Had zero visibility online for this parcel from the US, which finally arrived today (via USPS):

30th April -> departed Dublin airport
no updates (USPS or An Post)
-> delivered today (customs due so it obviously went through the customs process in the interval)

in case it helps anyone in a similiar situation

How long did it take to arrive in to Dublin from the US? I’m waiting on a package that was “Processed Through” the San Francisco International Distribution Centre on the 8th of April with no update to the tracking since and I’m at my wits end here

So guys, further update on my missing package from the US. Any tracking number that starts with U or L will not be scanned by An Post and when it leaves the United States, there will be no further updates. Edit: To clarify, any USPS tracking number.

An Post are still digging their heels in to me saying that my item is not in the country. I asked if it's possible that my item is in an An Post warehouse and it hasn't been scanned yet, and they said "It is absolutely not possible that your item is in the country." I told the agent that USPS have confirmed to me that the item is in the country and he said they're lying to me.

The agent was incredibly dismissive towards me and said that "Your item departed a transfer airport in DUBLIN, IRELAND on May 1, 2020 at 8:38 am" means that it hasn't left New York yet.

Trying to reach out to USPS again to find more info.

We are using Amazon prime and getting stuff delivered by An post with 2 days of ordering

Is that despite their transit time warning? Last thing I ordered was the start of April and took 4-5 days, which was pretty much the time they said it would - maybe a day early.

The predicted times have gone up to more than double the normal now. At least 7 working days for almost everything, more for many items.

I had a package from USA via AddressPal last month, it went UPS from Amazon to the AddressPal warehouse in NJ, then once they received it I heard nothing for nearly a week.
Checked the tracking and it was in Dublin Mails Centre so assumed it would take 2/3 days to deliver but after a week, nothing.
Turns out Revenue had it, no notification except they sent a letter by snail mail to my address (I used my home address for the whole thing and was just monitoring online) and the mother hadn't seen it. They needed proof of purchase with the purchase& freight amounts.

Took a few more days to sort that and then, when the postman arrived at the door, he rang the doorbell to tell my Mam he had it but couldn't deliver it as he can't take cash, and she had to go to the local depot and pay by card even though he went and brought it to the house in the van.

Luckily it wasn't urgent (voltage converter for my aunt's new kitchen project which is now suspended) But you couldn't write it.

Thanks for that, probably safe to assume it hasn’t in fact left the states yet seeing as you got confirmation of it’s departure.

Went on line to find a number to ring but, came across "web chat"
so tried that, logged on and was told 10 min wait which is ok when you know that and, are not hanging on a phone listening to rubbish about how efficient they are.
Sure enough after 10 mins a person answered and I entered the required data.
1 minute later--your package is in the sorting office since last Weds cannot tell you any more!!

Ah, the number I've been ringing is 017057600, literally the first result when I google "contact An Post", and then you listen to the rambling and press option 0 and that throws you in the queue to speak to someone. Although, you would be waiting.

Was your item a package from the states or somewhere in Europe? Did you have a USPS tracking number starting with U? I might try the live chat myself tomorrow because I can't get a straight answer from the phone team.

My package was from Amazon UK and had an An Post tracking number ending in IE

The USPS is dreadful. Underfunded, slow, cumbersome and stuck in the 70's. I would suspect that the scan just means it has left their international facility and is sitting in a warehouse in one of the airports.
Remember most USPS mail comes by air and it would be the standard passenger flights that carry most of it. With most of these flights grounded, there will be huge delays.

But even in the best of times, USPS lag behind others

Yeah, it seems that way, I'm stuck anyway as USPS won't help me, telling me the item is in Ireland and An Post won't help me because they're saying it's still in the US. Rock and a hard place here.

Anybody receive anything from USA yet

I've received some things, but then again I have one USPS shipped parcel from end March, that hasn't shown on An Post tracking yet.

The things that arrived were usually en-route 2-3 weeks at the most.

I'm waiting for a small parcel from China. Shipped 25th March and according to the tracker on 1st May Shipment was loaded at cross border service point in Dublin.

    Any thoughts?

Oh crap! Wish I'd noticed this thread before I ordered some bearings from the US. USPS with U-prefix tracking number.

(Now thinking I might order the basic but adequate alternative from the UK. Not a case of: "buy cheap, buy twice" but "buy specialist, buy twice" )
