All out for 172...some degree of respectability after being 28/5.

Campher and McBrine offering some light in a sea of $hite

Only 5 batsmen into double figures, disappointing. Just not a competitive score. 35 overs should see England win, less if they hold onto wickets at the start of their innings

The manner of the wickets being lost is the worrying aspect. It was rank bad batting over great deliveries.

Looks a great pitch on a lovely day and 300 you would think is even a below par score.

To only get 172 was poor, but it could have even been a whole lot worse than that. Credit to Campher on debut for his knock. He looks a nice tidy player in defence and was able to milk the single and two's on offer rather than just throwing the bat at it and giving his wicket away like so many others did.

Hopefully the bowlers can pick up a few wickets but it should be a very straight-forward chase for England.

good to get an early wicket anyway

Jason Roy was starting to tee off for England but Craig Young gets him.

    34-2.

    And another. Come on.

Vince edges to Tucker. Young has another one.

    England 59-3.

Vince is a beautiful batsman but always gives it away too casually. Wasted talent.

Billings in now, another talent with little substance so far at this level. Morgan dropping himself way down.

    4 down now, for 82

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gillespy

    Billings looking good.

No scoreboard pressure at all. Another 50 runs might have made a game of it.

An awful lots of boundaries for England.

Couldn't really ask much more from the bowlers to be fair though.

Feels like they've all decided just to finish it as quickly as possible now

A win for England with 22.1 overs to spare. Ireland obviously won’t be happy but neither will the English. A game like that so so far from being competitive isn’t really helping them. Not much of a spectacle.

I like balbo as a captain I think he's great but I just never feel confident when he steps up to bat.

    Middle to lower batsman imo

Game was lost with Willey's four early strikes. 28-5 is too big a hole to do anything. Salvaging the innings to 172 was a good effort.

Do it all again on the same pitch on Saturday. A lot of batsmen will hope to be better for playing this game.

If we had Morgan, it would have been a finely balanced game!

Won the toss, having a bat, lets hope it goes better than Thurs! COYBIG!

Solid start, 11 after 2. Outfield looks last which will help.

Bad shot but a very good catch. Dreadful shot it was a poor delivery.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,729 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Optimism draining away fast now :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,804 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Two wickets no real biggie but two wickets and a run rate of just 2.4 after 7 overs is ominous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Gillespy

No answers for David Willey today either so far. 2-6 off his four overs.

Brilliant spell, line, length, variations and late swing.

Absolutely ridiculous getting out to James Vince, Ireland are not international standard. The team 10 years ago was, but nothing coming through
