(please) If I may be so bold...

I'd like a good watch, but not a watch that tries to say I'm an expensive watch. Classy timepiece that I can wear every day, ideally waterproof and with a date.
I prefer automatic and I like my watches midsize, no bigger than 40mm. Currently wearing a Seiko 5 and I wouldn't want them any bigger. I like analog, round, functional, clear lines. Not dressy, more like aviator or military or sporty or so, even a chrono but not overloaded.
Dark dial is nice but not a must.

I like some Omegas and some of the Sinns, but they're really out of my price range. Some nice Tag Carreras but again not cheap.

Any ideas? I thought this may be a challenge. ;) Thx

Edit Something like this is nice: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/TAG-Heuer-carrera-automaic-calibre-5/142553393618?hash=item2130d829d2:g:h68AAOSwuMZZJqF~

    Seiko SARB033?

    What is your budget?

There would be a good few Hamiltons that match your description of what you are looking for - https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-int/filter-by/mens-watches.html and filter by movement type, case size, dial colour etc.

Do you want a bezel or not?

Thanks so far. Really appreciate it. I’m not very knowledgeable on what’s out there.

Budget: Saw some lovely TAGs just around the €1000 mark. In the right moment of craziness I might just stretch that far.

That Seiko is not a bad call.
Bezel - it depends. Looks good on some chronos but I wouldn’t really have any use for it. (As if that mattered ;)

    1000 puts you into used Damasko territory;

    https://www.damasko-watches.com/de/modelle/

Or if you insist on new, you'll just get in the door with this
    https://www.damasko-watches.com/de/modelle/drei-zeiger-modelle/flache-drei-zeiger-sport-modelle/

Next thing I'll say is have a look in hour passion in KV, it's pot luck as to what they have there on the day.

Doesn’t have to be new btw

I'd go with a Steinhart. Top quality for decent money and a good few about second hand too.

Also, Revue Thommen do some nice pieces and second hand would be affordable.

Was going back and forth all morning. In the end I decided I liked the Tag Carrera too much to be looking for something similar.
Bought a calibre 7 twin time for €900. Good deal I think and gorgeous looking watch.

Now I just have to come to terms with what I’ve done. :)

Give it time. Luckily, you have a nice new watch to track the time giving!

Edit: see you got a watch. Enjoy!

Sinn 556A available for less than €1000 on a metal bracelet. Well under that if you go for a leather strap.

    +1 on the Hamiltons

Thanks everyone. Should arrive this week, love getting that giddy kid-days-before-Christmas feeling.

Must put up a few pics when I have the new one.

I tried to find what this is through google but no joy. Can someone help?

My new watch is on the way now but this sounds interesting regardless.

Its a shop in Kildare Village that stocks watches from the SWATCH group, Hamilton and Longines are the only ones i can think of but sometimes they have really good deals.

Worth a look if it's not far from you. It's pot luck what they have in stock but they do have some great deals.

They had this for €530 at the weekend always liked them but probably too big for my skinny wrists.

Rado and Mido have interesting designs too.

I especially like the ceramic materials Rado uses on their watches - you know it's a Rado from a mile away - really strong distinct branding across their lines.

Here are all the brands that Swatch owns:
    Balmain
    Blancpain
    Breguet
    Ck Calvin Klein
    Certina
    Endura
    Flik Flak
    Glashütte Original
    Hamilton
    Harry Winston
    Jaquet Droz
    Léon Hatot
    Longines
    Mido
    Omega
    Rado
    Swatch
    Swiss Timing
    Tissot
    Union Glashütte

Didn't know they had such a broad spectrum, impressive list. Thanks

Truly the VW of watches :D

    They offer everything from this:

    Flik Flak €5 watch:
    https://www.ebay.ie/itm/113889362406

    to this:

Jaquet Droz €416,000 bird repeater watch:

pretty much everyone is catered for - maybe except for the uber rich oligarchs who want to €1 million+ watches :pac:
