Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Power off but still being charged.

    We have a holiday home which has 2 storage heaters. As the house is only used every now and then we turn off the power at the mains when we leave. Our electricity bills are showing nighttime charges. Electric ireland say it must be the storage heating but since they're not plugged in I cant figure out how??

    These are definitely not estimated bills? They are based on actual reads?

    Some are read and some estimated. Even when the meter has been read it’s very high?

    You really have to get someone qualified down there to look into it if you do t know much about electrics. It could be any number of things. Make sure to give the electrician who goes down full information about meter readings.

    When you say the mains... you mean th mains of the heaters?

    Is there a fridge?
    Is it attached to your neighbour? any chance of crossover in the wiring?

    We had this in a holiday home - eventually solved it...the light had been left on in the loft!


    If you are in the house at night(during night time rate) can you see the meter red bar going around indicating usage?

    Is any electricity being used at other times...is it all at the nightsaver rate?

    It’s a detached house. Houses on either side holiday homes as well so only used occasionally.
    We have an electrician meeting is next time we’re there.

    We’re going to do that next time we’re down. Turn things on and off to see whats producing the most energy.

    The night time unit is listed as an Electricty Nightsaver Tariff.

    Don’t think I’ve every looked in the attic to see what’s up there!��
