    Hi all,
I spent last Friday and Saturday in Cork and took some pics of the buses down there in a variety of locations. I started off in the City Centre and they are the first batch uploaded. The collection can be found here:

    Some highlights,

I would assume VWL147 was in Cork having been swapped for a double deck for the summer for Waterford-Tramore.

Here's a bit of news about a Dublin Bus I had seen this morning.

I had seen AX647 just out of the blue today with AOA for Coca-Cola. It was going from Ailesbury Road towards Sydney Parade when it was not in service when I was on the 4 bus to Harristown. I then saw it on it's way up Sandymount Avenue as the No.18 bus. It has a white colour with Coca-Cola bottles with names on them nearly plastered all over it.

EDIT: Actually I have just found the photos here but they are from the 46A route some days ago. It depicts the 'Share A Coke' campaign from the company.

Two VWDs are in Waterford and in return Cork got two VWLs.

AV 112 returned to the streets of Dublin this morning:

If you look really closely and squint your eyes at this, you can see no less than 7 buses in this rush hour shot. Sorry to say but I can't ID them all so you will have to trust me on it ;)

Well given it was taken on Lower Abbey Street which is the outbound terminus for the 29a, 31, 31a, 31b, 32 and 130, along with the inbound and outbound terminus for the 33, 41, 41b and 41c that really isn't a surprise at rush hour.

even off peak too, there's usually buses jammed into where you're standing taking the photo.

Sundays at 10pm, I've boarded a 33 where your second bus is because it couldn't access the 33 stop with 41s and 41C parked in the way.

I wonder what AV285 is doing being at the top of the queue, all of its possible stops are behind it

Was just on another forum and happened to spot that subject to confirmation it appears a lot of ex Cork VWL's look set to return in a shake up of the new fleet allocation, interesting times ahead in the B/E fleet it seems

Here is a sight you don't see everyday.

A large fleet of Translink buses heading to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The New Dublin Bus SG (SG 16) is driving out of Ballymena on it's way to Donnybrook Garage in Dublin 4.

    14763274296_2ec2c69066_z.jpg

I heard a rumour that this bus in Donnybrook is to be on either the 17 or 44 which is a surprise to considering in their final outcome of their first route instead of the Stillorgan QBC routes the 46a or 145.

My concern for the 17 would be if the SG's go through areas with high anti-social behaviour like Crumlin, Dolphins Barn and Rialto. They could have their windows broken by young hoodied scumbags living there because the buses used for those areas are by and large cascaded buses from other routes.

My reasons for them on the 44 is largely positive because the majority of the route is long and straight for bus drivers to use. The route goes through mainly nicer areas through Larkhill and Drumcondra on the northside and through Ranelagh and Dundrum on the southside.

I think there is generally more appreciation of newer buses going through those areas on the 44 while other people were seeing the GT's being on the 1, 11 and the 13.

I'd love to hear one again. I have memories of travelling on KDs between Ballyfermot and Crumlin on the 18 and I remember how loud they were inside.

Amazing your preconceptions about particular areas of Dublin. In 25 years of using the 17 I've never seen any windows smashed, or any form of damage being caused to vehicles, or any anti-social behaviour. You have some very strange notions of what parts of Dublin have problems, and indeed what the residents of those areas are like.

If any routes in Donnybrook experience any trouble, then it's a bit closer to home than you seem to think, with the 7 and the 45a being prime candidates.

The reason I asked the question as to why putting them elsewhere than the Stillorgan QBC would be a "surprise" was that why would you put vehicles with lower seating capacity on routes such as the 46a and 145 which need to maximise capacity. It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. There are plenty of other routes in Donnybrook that are AX/AV operated that could benefit from the new vehicles.

I have done the full route on the 17 on a few occasions (in parts), and not once have I seen any sort of antisocial behaviour. The areas of Crumlin and Dolphin's Barn are only very small parts of a grand route, so I'd have no issues at all with SGs being allocated there. I'd much prefer to see them on any route, other than the 46A. Anyway, you'll be guaranteed a few SGs on that route on weekends. The 44 is also a nice route, and again there should be no issues at all allocating SGs there.

On the north side, the 1 and 11 have the GTs, but the 13 doesn't. It does have some VGs on it everyday, but the rest is mostly AVs (some being among the oldest), and the usual AXs. GTs do appear occasionally. Surprisingly, the 40 seems to have a better share of newer buses (again the occasional GT), and I won't be surprised to see more GTs and even SGs appear on it.

I can't believe this post - the 17 is pretty much one of the safest routes on the network.

Why I'd be surprised that they would be put on the 17 and 44 is that they are routes associated with old buses or a mix of types. They were the last Dbk RV routes, when was the last time they got new buses?

I'd think they would go to the normal places of new buses, the 7 or 11 with GTs moved or maybe AXs being taken off the 75 for them. They'll of course find their way onto the 46A despite capacity issues.

I have had a few windows smashed on 17 but also all other routes so it doesn't matter where or when it could happen anywhere.

They are going the same logic behind putting gt's on 114 route as break downs were causing huge trouble.

44 is a hourly service so if bus breaks down it will be 2 hour wait.

Wow how he turned that over in that spot is amazing, he must a been booting it! I drove the buses for a year just after that, also spot the timoney fire engine in background, they had a v12 Detroit diesel just like the bombardier buses had but got blacked in dfb over other issues so they lasted no length, they were built in navan.
