Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Just wondering, whats the oldest tool in your tool box.

    Mine would have to be a 1740 ebony and brass handbrace.

    A Stanley #101 which belonged to my great grandfather. Exact age is unknown but it's pre-1940's anyway as the cap-iron is unpainted. I've a few old Stanleys/Baileys including corrugated #5 & #7's too which came from my grandfathers toolbox. Well used but maintained tools....Nice to know where they came from and where they were used!

    Very nice.

    Corrugated planes were used for planing particularly resinous timbers, not many around now. I bought one myself about 9 months ago, in the buy andsell, along with a mixture of other tools, for 40 euro the lot.

    Good bargain.
