Finally making the transition to LED Fairy lights for Christmas 2019. Probably could have gotten another year out of most of our sets of incandescent fairy lights as I still have lots of spare bulbs from sacrificial donor sets but between Christmas and New years the rate of attrition had accelerated to a point where I was swapping out on average 5 bulbs every day or second day. LED sets were expensive before Christmas and because they don't match the incandescents its all or nothing, you have to do the whole tree and fireplace garland together or else one type of light will clash with the other. The Normies (not us) would be wondering what the hell I'm talking about but you guys understand! :D The Normies dgaf and would have an old faint golden set of incandescents on the top of a tree, a multi-coloured set on the middle and a set of Neon blue LED's on the bottom. I've seen that kind of monstrosity in the flesh people. Its as horrific as it sounds!! :D

Anyway, early January when Woodies were clearing xmas stock I bought all I needed to replace every set in the house with LED's. 5x 500 Warm white LED sets and 2 x 240 Warm White LED sets for the same price as 2x 500 sets would have cost me before Christmas. Even better, is that LED's drawing so much less current with more bulbs per set means I can safely plug them into Smart Plugs next christmas and instead of running around the house switching on/off sets and reaching around to sockets behind trees etc next christmas I'll either set them to come on on a timer or else simply say the Magic Words!!

Hey Google! Turn on all the Christmas lights!

    :D

Just sorted my parents present - tickets to Love Actually with a live orchestra in the Bord Gais! Delighted to have it sorted but jeez Louise, ticket prices are astronomical in this country! I don't mind paying the ticket price but why the heck is there a 7.95 service charge on EACH ticket?! Daylight robbery!

I just seen the ticket prices, couldn’t believe it!!

Yes they are crazy! It better be flipping brilliant! Only that it was a Christmas present - I wouldn't have bothered!

We were going to go but not going to bother now due to the price. Said we would just have a movie night instead around Christmas with food and drinks

What were the prices, just out of interest.

Actually don't worry. Just saw them on ticketmaster there, €78.25 each!

    :eek::eek::eek:

I'd want Bill Nighy live with his santa clad backing singers for that kind of outlay.
Wow, and not in a good way.

It's just a glorified cinema for the night no?? 78 euro!!! Insane money. You'd get a full show cheaper.

This was on offer in Argos and picked it up for Christmas

Says it was €49.99 and was down to €10.94. I’ve no idea if it was ever worth fifty euro but seems a good gift for €11.00

Playmobil Summer Jet is speeding off to a distant holiday paradise. Thanks to the detachable roof, the passengers can easily find their seats. Now all they have to do is stow away their luggage. The flight captain is already announcing "Ready for take-off! " Whether far-off metropolis or palm-fringed beach, nowhere is out of reach.

    Removable aircraft roof.

Room for one Playmobil figure in the cabin and two in the private cabin.

Rotating wheels to drive across the floor before take off.

    Room for luggage in cabin.

    http://checkargos.com/product/8587381

Seems to be some stock left if anyone else is interested.

I just reserved Perfection for €12.49 and Downfall for €11.49 in Argos, I thought they were reasonably priced and I’m happy the way my little collection of Christmas gifts are starting to grow.
