Apparently it was cancelled due to construction work being carried out down the lower end of the course.

Update on Cross of Kells CX race for this Sunday, thankfully not a cancellation!

Course Update: New sections cleared in the forest which will make for a faster flowing course with 2 long recovery sections before and after the main grass section. Field area has been moved to run alongside last weeks course.
NOTICE: A race will now start before the B race at 12.45pm with B race at 2pm. Revised schedule will be posted tomorrow once online registration closes at 12 noon.

Thanks to all at Oldcastle for a great event. The new additions and reversed direction made for a much better (in my opinion) lap. Only the one running section, good forest sections and if you had a second bike you got the benefit of it on the next fast section. There was obviously a huge amount of work that went into the two events and so thanks again.

First time up there. Oldcastle put on a great show! Well done folks.

I did the B Race and was probably last over the line. Great course - loved the forest bit and was able to ride most of it except the muddy hill and the ditch where I came off a few times. Brought the wrong tyres and really struggled in the mud sections - dropping places every lap (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Apologies again to the lad I whacked in the helmet with my bike running through the mud. I would have been less understanding if it was the other way round.

A couple of results for STCC so a good day out.

SDCC blitzed the area, locals not happy at all!

Any recommendations on a decent starter CX biek that would be upgradable to something half way decent over time, looking at these two:
https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/...product=139845
or
https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/...product=139839

Is the 1kg in weight difference really worth the price difference, paint job is also nicer on the cheaper one. Any other recommendations welcome.

Go 1x - https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/EBPXXL...t-x-xls-rival1

Edit - If you want to get a few races in this season, I'd pull the trigger quick. PlanetX have some disgruntled customers, FYI - https://ie.trustpilot.com/review/planet-x-bikes.co.uk

No, it's not worth it. Again, you don't want 2x. Agreed re the paint job. If you get up to A you can buy a carbon bike and keep this in the pits

The Alu is the 1X, the carbon is 2x. Benefits there are parts would be easier to swap from my old road bike over to the 2x, but thats not really important.

Looks like I am going Alu then,

Just out of curiosity, how come only 1 rider in the B was promoted this week? It was 2 last week.

Are the pics on Bray Wheelers Fb page actually of the course, the steps and ramp etc. Looks awesome and terrifying in equal measure if it is.
