Derailleur on a kids bike got mangled, bought a new one (Shimano tourney, same model as was on it) but it looks like its meant to screw onto the frame, whereas the one that was on it has an extra bracket.

I can't find anything on a Google search, can I even get an adapter?

    Thanks

    Nevermind, found this image

So now I know I'm looking for the hanger.

The hanger is a separate part, of the deralier got mangled it was probably a bent hanger though too. Take the hanger off the old one and check if it’s straight or bent. Should be able to bend it back if it’s not bad and use that one.

Failing that they are bike specific so you will have to find one that matches that make and model.

i would be wary of reusing a bent hanger if at all possible. there are a few sites specialising in replacement hangers, e.g.

From your picture it would be a hanger with a bolt:- https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-spares/shimano-compatible-rear-gear-hanger-bracket/

however, Shimano Tourney rear derailleur is available with the bracket attached:- https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/derailleurs-rear/shimano-tourney-rda070-7-speed-road-rear-derailleur-with-mounting-bracket/

Maybe the shop you bought the derailleur from will exchange it for one with the hanger fitted.

I see that now, unfortunately it was an amazon purchase quite a few weeks back. The original one obv had the hanger attached but its not detachable. Its fairly bent anyway. The one you linked looks right

Any decent bike shop should do a swap, if they have the right one in stock, and the one you're bringing in is re-saleable (new and undamaged).

If you're asking a shop on the phone, you should say that you bought the hanger-mount version by mistake, and you'd like to swap it for an axle-mount version.
