Newstalk from Mullaghanish (107.4) is off the air since last night

Carrier on 94.3 very early this morning with RDS reading 'Dizzy943' Was gone by 8.30am.

Thought All 80s was using this frequency intermittently?

Different signal strength so definitely not connected to All 80s.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,867 ✭✭✭JDxtra

Even the relay of All 80s changes. It is the same as what was on 93.2 before it moved to current frequency of 94.3. Just very occasional broadcasts of different stations.

Be careful folks - BAI are not updating list of temp stations so one could get allocated to 94.3, even for weekend use.

91.0 does have RDS, but their modulation might be too low for it to be working effectively.

    Here's what I can get...

    88.1 - PirateFM - Pirate FM Dublin
    91.0 - PULSE - www.pulse1.com
105.2 - EASY - Your Relaxing Music Mix
107.1 - CLUB FM - Club FM Dublin

I'm in Leixlip, I've checked the other usual frequencies but either nothing on them or too weak out this way.

87.6 - blank carrier, no RDS
    92.0 - nothing
    93.2 - nothing
94.3 - blank carrier, no RDS
    98.4 - nothing
99.5 - Fresh, too weak to get the RDS
    102.5 - nothing
    105.7 - nothing

Religious stations Life FM (93.1) and Spirit FM (90.9) both off the air in Cork for the past few hours, possibly related to a power glitch occurred before 2PM?.

Great news. Probably one of the best pirates in terms of coverage plus consistency. Best of luck to them

    G]

RDS is not affected by modulation - signal strength is key.

The other issue that can affect RDS is an incorrectly tuned RDS unit.

I am receiving Pulse at 46db (Pirate FM at 47db for comparison ) near Dublin city - however the RDS on Pulse is not registering which indicate a poorly tuned RDS unit at the transmission site

I’m guessing it’s the same station that was on 87.5 playing heavy dance music, the audio on it wasn’t great.

The RTE mini mux which was on from Donnybrook has lodged placeholders on my radio yesterday for the MUX2 channels which were on 5B.
Have no idea where this was from, but I was nowhere near Donnybrook

Apart from Unid 87.5 being off air there is nothing else to indicate 94.3 is the same station.

The radiation pattern and audio quality (and the problems over the weekend they had with modulating the signal ) would suggest that they are different stations.

Strange weekend - 87.6 Chill and 105.2 Easy end up on blank carriers,90s Network suffers a lightening strike taking it off air ,Kiss hint at a return and RetroNow moves to 102.5 (the Beach signal had improved ), while Retro 92 and All 80s have a weekend off !

Audio quality on 94.3 is dire btw....

anyone know what type of dance music 94.3 is playing?

Trance when I caught it this morning.

94.3 signal has been hit and miss also with no RDS when I last checked.

Looks like storm took a few stations off the air.

    Anybody do bandsxan this evening?

This is what I picked up of the pirates this evening in East Meath

    Pirate 88.1fm (strong)
Pulse back on 91.0fm, (Strong )
94.3fm blank carrier no rds (Strong)
    99.5fm fresh still testing, (Weak)
    102.5fm Retro Now, (Weak)
    104.2fm Storm North East, (Strong)
    105.8fm (weak)
    107.1fm Club Fm (weak)

Have to say out of all of them Pirate Fm seems to have the best coverage

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,303 ✭✭✭Antenna

Spirit FM in Cork (90.9) currently still just a silent carrier. It put off the air with lightning on Sunday.
Transmitter went back on yesterday (Monday) but with no audio since then.

Life FM (93.1) returned on Monday morning

105.8 is Newstalk from the midlands I’d say it’s meant to be 105.7 The Beach
