Eye muscle problems

I'm looking for a recommendation of a ophthalmologist for my eye muscle problems.

The muscles in my eyes are not strong so my eyes dont blink at the same time and there is some uncontrolled eye movement .

I've been to the eye and ear hospital a couple of times over the years and have been told nothing can be done to correct them. But I'm looking for a second opinion.

I'm finding it very difficult to cope with and would love to try and find a solution to this .

Any recommendations on a private ophthalmologist would be appreciated.

Edit: a squint specialist ophthalmologist to check for muscle paralysis

My actual eye sight is perfect.

I've been googling eye problems and I think botox could help to improve this.

I'm finding it very difficult to cope with and would love to try and find a solution to this . If there are ophthalmologists on the site I can send a video.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

MOD NOTE: This would constitute medical advice which is not allowed by boards.ie. You can get a recommendation of an ophthalmologist but you would have to attend in person yo have a proper assessment.

I'm just looking for a recommendation for a private ophthalmologist in Dublin.

Ok but you did ask if there were ophthalmologists on the site who you could send a video to. That is not allowed

I think you may need an orthoptist, they deal with eye movement problems.

I have an intermittent strabismus issue (weak eye muscles) that's gotten worse over time and my optometrist referred me to Tony McAleer in the Northbrook Clinic in Ranelagh. He reviewed and tested my eye movement and referred me to an eye surgeon. Found him very pleasant and thorough. You may need your optometrist to refer you though, not sure if you can self refer.

You're welcome! I'm getting eye surgery next week, so I'll know after that! :p

Can empathise, I was getting to a point of not being able to cope with the deterioration in my sight and perception, it nosedived really quickly over the last year. Driving is particularly stressful and tiring, I'd stopped doing anything but essential journeys.

One eye used to go for a wander inward when I was younger, but only if I was tired (or drunk!), but now it happens intermittently all day, very disorientating and makes you mistrust a lot of the visual information your brain is processing.

Do one or both of your eyes move inward or outward occasionally or most of the time?

Btw, there are a few threads on here with feedback on people's experience of the surgery, just search for strabismus.

I wish you so much luck. I know how you have been feeling .
I googled Tony's name and sent an email but I'll also go to a GP and get a referral.

I took a video of myself yesterday. My eyes blink at different times . They go inward when I look up and go outward when I look left to right .

I cant really live with it and I need to try to correct it

I'm not sure what the term is for my problem to be honest m the eye and ear hospital I've been twice and they weren't helpful

Probably a good first step would be to go to your optician/optometrist and they can assess and refer on.

Not sure if your GP can refer in this situation (maybe they can, but the optometrist definitely can).

My appointment with the surgeon was in the Northbrook but the surgery is actually in the Eye and Ear, the surgeon operates there.

I've never had a optician/optometrist. My family always told me there was nothing wrong with my eyes . But I'm sick of the bullying so need to try and do something
