Ya have to feel sorry for the goalie who was giving his name to the ref. Ref thought he was messing, so gave him a second yellow. Didier Cordonnier.

Happened an old school mate of mine too back in the day. James Bond.

Davy Burke new Sarsfields manager. At the very least it's great to see him still involved in Kildare football. Would have been sad to see him head further afield

They were lucky in the end, six (seven?) points up at one stage

Cavan and Kildare played a challenge yesterday. Anyone know how it went?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Cavan won by 4. Kildare light enough on numbers with Sigerson, TMH and injuries. Presume Cavan were in a similar boat.

Have you any teams from it?

No sorry. Only going on what I heard second hand. Kildare were down to the bare bones anyway. Chris Healy, Peter Kelly and Mark Sherry were playing with TMH and Jimmy Hyland, Mark Hyland, Jason Gibbons and David Malone were playing with NUIM. Paddy Brophy and Kevin Flynn are out injured and Paschal Connell, Podge Fogarty, Brian McLoughlin and John O'Toole are gone from the Panel.

Mick O'Grady and Neil Flynn are suspended so they will be joining Brophy and Kevin Flynn on the absent list for the league opener. Difficult task in the circumstances.

Why is Brian Mcloughlin gone from the panel?? Did I miss something?

Lads just curious as to the expectations around young Jimmy Hyland?

He is some talent based on what I saw of him in the under 20s championship last year.Unfortunately I saw him up and close in the final.

Such a shame the exquisite talent that is Daniel Flynn won't be gracing our fields this year.Best of luck to him with his studies.

Big things expected of Jimmy but he does have his head screwed on. Strikes me as the type who will cope with it. Minding him and keeping him injury free will be the key.

Very little of the king's ransom they paid for Pairc Ui Chaoimh was spent on the pitch by the looks of things!

Kildare lead by 2 at half time after struggling for long periods. Cork started the better but wasted a lot of chances. A Feely penalty after Jimmy Hyland was fouled kept our noses in front. We had a purple patch midway through the half after Adam Tyrrell kicked a free with Jimmy converting an attacking mark and McCormack kicking a nice point. A hard watch with Cork playing fairly negatively and Kildare failing to find any attacking rhythm for most of the half. I think we will see Neil Flynn before long.

    Kildare down to 14.

Allianz NFL Div 2 Rd 2:

    Cork 0-10 Kildare 1-10

    Feely (1-1, 1 pen), Flynn (0-3, 1 ‘45), McCormack (0-2), Tyrrell (0-2, 2 fs), Dowling (0-1), Hyland (0-1, 1 f).

Kildare see it out. 3 points out of 4 so far without ever really clicking. Nice to see Kildare getting something out of these types of contests.
