    Hi all..

Welcome to the Waterford City Forum! Please, try to get along. If you don't like someone, ignore them. If you have an issue with their post, please hit the "Report" button and one of the moderators will respond to your report.

In short, the specific guidelines for this forum are:-

    Please don't:
    • General Boards.ie Posting Guidelines apply here. If you have not read these, we suggest you do so.
    • If you feel the need to go insulting the travelling community in Waterford, certain areas of Waterford, or certain people in Waterford (Add your own minorities to this list), whether it be using derogatory terms, insults, slurs, or the like, please expect a swift banning from the forum. We will notify you when your ban is to be up. (See "Note 2" for clarification)
    • Fuel speculation. If you heard a rumour from a source about any business or local incident, please do not post it until confirmed by a reliable media source.
    • This forum is for discussion regarding Waterford City. This forum is not for mindless trolling by surrounding counties or uninformed / unsupported opinions. Instant ban for anybody who attempts to troll the forum (or troll others from this forum). This includes starting a debate, or referring to, whether or not Kilkenny is a town/village/city/island/capital of Ireland etc. due to the problems that go with such a discussion.
    • Ticket Selling? Selling anything at all? See here.
    • Name individual people. We've had trouble with this recently, and considering the trouble it can cause for boards.ie and the moderators, it's not allowed on the forum. This falls under the boards.ie general rules of No Libellous comments, but we're adding it to the charter as people seem to forget it. Infractions and/or bans will be handed out if it happens in future.
    • Talk using "txt spk" - its much easier for everyone to read normal text rather then trying to guess what your abbreviations mean.
    • Post large images. Either link to the image, or make it smaller. (See "Note 1" for tips on how to resize

    Political Discussions:
    • Politics Forum Charter applies to any political discussions on this forum, in addition to the rules set-out below
    • If you want to bash any political party in general then don't post in this thread and instead go to the politics forum. This forum is only for Waterford specific discussions.
    • No trolling or baiting other users, this includes calling people fanboys, zealots etc of a political party or the government just because you disagree with their views or the fact that they may agree/disagree with something the government is or is not doing.
    • No posting of silly images such as facepalms etc as part of your reply, either take the time to reply properly using actual words without silly images or don't reply at all. Posts of this nature will lead to a automatic 1 month ban.
    • We can't stress this enough, please remember to attack the post, not the poster.

All in all, common sense helps a lot. The above are guidelines - If you are acting out of what could be considered 'normal behaviour', don't be surprised if you get a holiday from the forum.

If you have any concerns about how the forum is run; please contact one of the moderating team (Mods, or if that fails, the CMods). Please do not disrupt the forum by posting such issues here. This is standard Boards.ie procedure.

If you are a newly registered user on Boards.ie and not adhering to any of the above, expect to get banned. Do not expect us to care if you have something to "add" to a thread. If you can't converse with your peers here, then please don't join in. Expect to be treated like a "n00b" if you act like one.

We strongly suggest taking a read of the Newbies & FAQ forums if you are new to Boards.

Happy Posting! Any questions, our PM Inbox is always open!

Note 1:- Download & Install this Microsoft tool http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe.
Right click the picture you want to resize, and select "Resize Pictures". Select "Small (640x480)" from the new menu. You can now use the new image when displaying the picture.

Note 2:- We understand that discussion of travellers can be a very touchy subject, which is why we ask for calm and common sense when posting. Terms such as pikeys, knackers, knick-knacks and the likes are deemed offensive and the use of such terms derail a thread into a bitch fest between anti-travellers and those defending them. The same is said to those who suggest that travellers should be all killed etc. To avoid this, we ask that when discussing them please just refer to them as "travellers" or "members of the travelling community". Discussion is not banned, but the use of stupid comments is banned. Thanks for your understanding.

Just to point out, I added (as per the suggestion of papa, and lack of ability to resize pictures from soldering iron!) the link to Microsoft's image resize tool which will help people scale down large images for posting in topics. Now, there is no excuse for posting large images in a topic.

    Cheers.

Guys just a quick note as I've seen it mentioned once or twice around the forum the last couple of days.

Ticket selling isn't allowed in the Waterford forum. Any threads or posts selling tickets will be deleted.

EDIT: ALL SALES of ANYTHING go onto Adverts.ie.

Following a considerable increase, and discussions between the moderation team, we want to remind everyone of the following rule on the charter.

-Fuel speculation. If you heard a rumour from a source about any business or local incident, please do not post it until confirmed by a reliable media source.

From this point onwards, anybody who posts such rumours up will be given an instant ban. This is because such rumours can be extremely damaging to the businesses and/or person. In addition, it can result in legal problems for Boards.

POST ONLY CONFIRMED STORIES - RUMOURS OR SPECULATION WILL BE AN INSTANT BAN!
