These instructions are for the Full Site (not the Touch Site) when accessed from a computer browser (not from the App).

    1. ATTACH A FILE:

    A. First of all, you can't attach a file you've saved on your computer from "Quick reply", you need to click on "Go Advanced":

    B. From there, select the paperclip icon:

    C. This box should appear - you may have to increase the size of the box or scroll to see all the buttons. The list of files allowed and their size is shown underneath:

    D. Click on "Browse" (1) to select the file you want, then click on "Upload" (2).
After a few seconds, the attachment should appear at the bottom (3). Then click on "Close this window".

    E. Type some text in the "posting area" as normal, then click on "Submit reply".

You've now successfully attached a file to your post.

    2. EMBED AN ATTACHMENT or an IMAGE found on the internet:

By "embed" we mean add a picture so that it shows on a post without having to click on any other link. You can do this two ways:

    A. By using the IMAGE icon, or B. By manually typing the IMG tags before and after the link.

    A. By using the IMAGE icon:

    A. Click on the IMAGE icon you can find while on "Quick Reply"

    515816.JPG

    or on "Go Advanced";

    515817.JPG

    B. Copy the URL of the image you've found on the web that you want to embed (usually, you need to right-click on the image and select something like "Copy image location" or whatever the equivalent is on your browser).
To copy the link of an attachment, right-click on the link of the picture you've just attached to your post (see 3 above) and select "Copy Link" - you can do this before submitting your post or by editing your post afterwards.

    C. Paste it in the field shown in this pop-up box:

    515818.JPG

Please ensure that you don't have two "https://" in the link as one is already there and ensure that there are no spaces. Then click ok and save your post or "Submit reply".

    B. By using IMG tags:

In the text of your post, you can type [noparse]noparse],then your URL, then [noparse][/noparse] again, like so: [noparse]funny-instagram-accounts-12-beigecardigan.jpg[/noparse]

    and you get this:

    IMPORTANT:

    1. INVISIBLE POSTS:

Depending on your browser and/or security settings, some posts, especially those with images taken from "pbs.twimg.com" (twitter images, I've been told, but also those from other sites), are not visible to all - to address this, please add the full URL of your image under your embedded picture.

    2. SCREENSHOTS:

If you're embedding screenshots or images you've attached to a post, please CROP the image so that no black fields show, they waste a lot of space when people are browsing on the phone.

To follow in due course: how to embed a gif and how to embed a YouTube video.

If you've any requests, please PM one of the Mods or post your question in the Chat thread.
